Ubuntu Christian Edition
Ubuntu Christian Edition is a free, open source operating system geared towards Christians. It is based on the popular Ubuntu. Along with the standard Ubuntu applications, Ubuntu Christian Edition includes the best available Christian software. The latest release contains GnomeSword, a top of the line Bible study program for Linux based on the Sword Project. There are several modules installed with GnomeSword including Bibles, Commentaries, and Dictionaries. Ubuntu Christian Edition also includes fully integrated web content parental controls powered by Dansguardian. A graphical tool to adjust the parental control settings has also been developed specifically for Ubuntu Christian Edition. The goal of Ubuntu Christian Edition is not to bring Christianity to Linux but to bring Linux to Christians.

I received an email from ThizLinux Laboratory to update the previously posted information (see below). The downloadable ISO images have been removed from the company's FTP server - the reason being that they include proprietary and non-distributable Chinese fonts provided by third parties. The company is currently evaluating a possibility to provide free downloads sans the proprietary fonts so if you are interested in this distribution, keep an eye on DistroWatch for further announcements. The official boxed product is now available for on-line orders at the cost of HK$188 (US$24). |

Distribution Release: Thiz Linux 7.0 |

Thiz Linux 7.0 has been announced. The Hong Kong based distribution's new features include Kernel 2.4.20; improved peripheral support for USB 2.0, IEEE-1394, hot-plugging, PDAs, digital cameras, webcams and scanners; CD and floppy automount; ext3 and ReiserFS journaling file systems. The graphical desktop is based around XFree86 4.3.0 and KDE 3.1. Includes superior support for both traditional and simplified Chinese character sets; Big5, HKSCS-2001, GB18030, ISO/IEC 10646 and Unicode 3.2 encoding standards are all available.
