Kubuntu 5.04 Preview has been released for testing: "The Kubuntu team is pleased to announce the preview of their first release. Kubuntu is a new distribution using the solid base of Ubuntu and the stunning KDE 3.4 desktop. This release follows the preview release last week of Ubuntu 5.04. The final release of Kubuntu 5.04 will be on April 6th. ... KDE 3.4 brings many improvements including the excellent KPDF reader, advanced groupware support in Kontact Personal Information Management Suite and Kopete instant messenger plus HAL support for removable media. We also include the feature packed amaroK 1.2 music and Kaffeine 1.5 video players." More details in the release announcement. The Kubuntu project has announced the release of Kubuntu 25.04 which features version 6.3 of the Plasma desktop. The release announcement shares the highlights: "The Kubuntu team is happy to announce that Kubuntu 25.04 has been released. Code-named 'Plucky Puffin', Kubuntu 25.04 continues our tradition of giving you Friendly Computing by integrating the latest and greatest open-source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The release features the latest KDE Plasma 6.3 desktop, KDE Gear 24.12.3, Linux kernel 6.14 and many other updated applications and libraries. Applications for core day-to-day usage are included and updated, such as Firefox and LibreOffice. The new release features KDE Plasma 6.1 and defaults to using a Wayland desktop session.
