NEW • Distribution Release: Kalango Linux 3.1 |

Kalango Linux is a Brazilian distribution/live CD based on Kurumin Linux. The new version 3.1 is a refinement of Kalango 3.0, with the main new features being improved hardware auto-detection and boot speed-ups, as well as the inclusion of Floppy/CD/DVD drive supermount as a standard feature. Several new applications have been added to the system - Amarok, Evince, Gparted are the most interesting among them. Distribution Release: Kalango Linux 3.2 |

Kalango Linux is a nicely designed Brazilian distribution based on Debian and Kurumin. After some seven months in development, version 3.2 was announced yesterday. The new release includes Linux kernel 2.6.11, OpenOffice.org 2.0, KDE 3.4.3, GNOME 2.10, as well as a number of popular applications, such as the amaroK media player, K3b CD/DVD burning utility, Azureus BitTorrent client, GIMP graphics manipulation software, Inkscape vector drawing application, Firefox web browser and Thunderbird email client. Distribution Release: Kalango Linux 3.0 |

After six months of beta testing, a new version of the Kurumin-based Kalango Linux is out. Version 3.0 has seen many organisational changes, package upgrades, and new features. Among them, a new hard disk installer and the inclusion of IceWM and Fluxbox (alongside KDE, GNOME and WindowMaker) are the most interesting changes. The kernel has been upgraded to 2.6.7, KDE to 3.3.1, GNOME to 2.8.1, Firefox to 1.0, Samba to 3.0.7.... The entire visual appearance of the the distribution has also undergone a comprehensive change. Together with the launch of Kalango 3.0, the distribution's web site has also been updated and its user forums migrated to PhpBB. Kalango Linux 1.0 has been released: "Slightly delayed, Kalango 1.0 final is released. Based on Kurumin 2.05, some of the changes since the release candidate 1 include: added Samba, Swat and Smbfs; replaced Kword and Kspread with Abiword and Gnumeric; added CCK (Centro de Controle do Kalango), which provides for a more intuitive organisation of system configuration scripts; added SGP (Simple Gerenciador de Pacotes)..." KDE Linux
KDE Linux is a user-focused, general-purpose Linux distribution. It is built by KDE and it is meant to showcase the best implementation of everything KDE has to offer, using the most advanced technologies. The distribution's base packages come from Arch Linux, while everything else is either compiled by the kde-builder tool or included as Flatpak packages. KDE Linux does not come with any traditional package manager, but supports installing Flatpak, Snap or AppImage applications. As it has an immutable base, system updates involve replacing the operating system image with an entirely new one.
