Freeduc-cd is a specialist live CD distribution specifically developed for use in primary schools. It is built around the light-weight XFce desktop environment and includes a large collection of educational software. Freeduc-cd 1.5, developed by the Organization for Free Software in Education and Teaching (OFSET) in cooperation with several other volunteer groups, was released recently: "Freeduc-cd 1.5 is a special version for primary education. | About Freeduc
|
| Freeduc is a French, Debian-based Linux distribution designed to run from an external USB device. Originally created in 2001 by Organization for Free Software in Education and Teaching (OFSET) with the objective of promoting the development of free software for educational purposes, it is now maintained by Linux enthusiasts at Lycée Jean Bart in Dunkerque, France. The Freeduc images are provided in two variants, "heavy" and "simple", both of which offer exactly the same software, but the former is designed for 16 GB USB drives and includes storage space for newly created files. The distribution uses the Cinnamon desktop.

After 9 beta releases, the new Freeduc 1.4 live CD is now ready for public consumption: "OFSET, the organization for the development of free software for education and teaching, is working with UNESCO to set up an international version of its FREEDUC distribution. FREEDUC is a GNU/Linux distribution which can be used without installation. It is specifically dedicated to the world of education and it enables an easy introduction for stakeholders of education to the 40 free software packages included on the cd-rom. A new version of Freeduc has been released. New features in 1.3: "CD-ROM ISO images of the sources are now available; dictd server with megabyte of dictionaries installed locally; Gnome-dictionary and dict client point to the local dictionary server; Galeon used as the default web browser; Fully working WIMS; add smbclient so xfsamba works correctly; remove KNOPPIX OpenOffice.org package and replace it by the official Debian one (v. 1.0.2); add German, English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese language packages for openoffice.org..." Archriot
Archriot is a project developing various tools that combine the Arch Linux distribution with the Hyprland tiling window manager into an Archriot operating system. Its features include a Go binary installer with atomic operations and instant rollbacks, privacy (with no telemetry tracking or corporate data harvesting), carefully crafted dark themes, and modern development tools and environments, such as Fish shell, Zed editor and Neovim. Archriot provides a small-sized ISO image with an automated installer program that downloads and installs all the necessary components of the distribution. It can also convert an installed Arch Linux-based system into Archriot with the help of an installation script.
