Guadalinex 3.0 has been released. Guadalinex is an Ubuntu-based distribution developed by the government of AndalucÃa in Spain and designed to replace proprietary operating systems in government institutions and schools. According to the release announcement (in Spanish) the latest version comes with an improved hard disk installer, permitting installation of the operating system directly from the live CD; default setup of a separate /home partition; improved hardware detection; kernel 2.6.12, GNOME 2.12. Evolution 2.4, OpenOffice.org 2.0; wizards for network configuration, including Ethernet, WiFi, modem and ADSL; and the usual range of open source software. Guadalinex 9 has been released. Guadalinex is a Linux distribution developed by the Council of Economy, Innovation and Science of the Government of Andalucía (Spain) to facilitate the access to information technology for all citizens of the Spanish province. It is largely based on Ubuntu 14.04, with elements from Linux Mint and Debian GNU/Linux. The main edition comes with the Cinnamon desktop, while the "lite" variant, provided for the first time and designed to run on older computers or computers with limited hardware, includes the lightweight LXDE desktop environment. The main components include: Linux kernel 3.13, Cinnamon 2.2.16, Firefox 24.3.0esr, LibreOffice 4.2.6 and the usual selection of popular open-source applications. The Council of Economy, Innovation and Science of the Government of Andalucía has announced the release of Guadalinex 8, an Ubuntu-based, easy-to-use, desktop Linux distribution developed to facilitate the access to information technology for all citizens. With a 40% improvement in boot speed and a complete redesign of the default desktop, the distribution incorporates the latest free software technologies, such as GNOME Shell, which provides for a more productive working environment while allowing high levels of customisation thanks to a multitude of extensions downloadable from the Internet. Most applications included in the default install have been upgraded to newer versions; this includes LibreOffice 3.5.0, Firefox 10, GNOME 3.2 and Linux kernel 3.0. Hardware device drivers have also been updated, while a brand-new "centro de software de Guadalinex" provides an easy way to install extra applications from the Internet. Distribution Release: Guadalinex 7 |
|
The Council of Economy, Innovation and Science of the Spanish regional government of AndalucÃa has published the final release of Guadalinex 7, an Ubuntu-based distribution on a DVD designed for deployment in government offices and schools around the region. Thirty percent faster than its predecessor, this new version improves the Internet user experience by providing easy access to social networking sites as well as to publication of blogs. Apart from the usual programs for Internet browsing, email and chat, the distribution comes with a parental control tool called "Nanny", developed in-house, which will help fathers and mothers in protecting their children from accessing malicious and inappropriate web sites. Moreover, the graphical aspect of Guadalinex has been given special attention, with an animated desktop bar (Cairo-Dock) containing frequently used applications and other interesting features. Guadalinex 6, a Spanish, Ubuntu-based distribution developed by the regional government of AndalucÃa in Spain, has been released. This version incorporates new functionality inherited from Ubuntu 9.04, with some of the most noticeable improvements being faster boot, several new programs and utilities, and the ability to run Windows applications. However, the new Guadalinex also includes features that differentiates it from Ubuntu, such as the Amigu migration assistant which can import files, settings, email and browser favourites from Windows (including Vista), and a practical user manual written specifically for this version of the distribution. The first release candidate for Guadalinex 5.0, a Spanish Ubuntu-based distribution developed by the regional government of AndalucÃa, is ready for testing. Released to commemorate today's worldwide Software Freedom Day, this is the project's first version that comes on two CDs - an installable live CD with essential applications and an optional CD with extra software packages. Some of the other changes from earlier betas: support for installing the system directly from the GRUB boot menu without having to boot into the live CD first; an option to create a bootable USB device from the live CD; new selection of applications, easier and more powerful; 3D desktop effects (where supported by the graphics card). Development Release: Guadalinex 2004 Candidata 6 |

The sixth release candidate of Guadalinex 2004 is now available for download and testing. The release is fast approaching its final state as the number of reported bugs declined to almost zero. Most of the changes in Candidata 6 are largely cosmetic, with improved overall look and feel, better access to the desktop and modifications on the login screen. A strategic change in the development of Guadalinex has brought us a new release candidate, version 2004 Candidata 5. It is longer be based on Debian Sid, but rather on the soon-to-be-stable Debian Sarge. As a result, the package versions in Candidata 5 have been synchronised with Sarge and testers are requested to report any newly discovered bugs.
