Trusted End Node Security
Trusted End Node Security (TENS), previously called Lightweight Portable Security (LPS), is a Linux-based live CD with a goal of allowing users to work on a computer without the risk of exposing their credentials and private data to malware, key loggers and other Internet-era ills. It includes a minimal set of applications and utilities, such as the Firefox web browser or an encryption wizard for encrypting and decrypting personal files. The live CD is a product produced by the United States of America's Department of Defence and is part of that organization's Software Protection Initiative.

After collecting feedback from its users for five months, China's Sun Wah today announced the availability of a revised version of its Debian-based distribution - RAYS LX 1.5r2. Among the many new features and additions in the updated release the following are worth mentioning: inclusion of proprietary graphics drivers for ATI (version 8.2.28) and VIA S3 Unichrome graphics cards; support for Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 network cards, addition of MadWifi drivers, inclusion of Java, Mono and Mono-based applications, such as Beagle desktop search tool; support for 3D desktop effects with Xgl/Compiz; many upgraded packages (GNOME 2.14.1, Firefox 1.5.0.6). RAYS, a product of Sun Wah Hi-tech System Software, is a Chinese desktop Linux distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux. RAYS version 2.0 "Baihong" was announced earlier today. Compared to the second release candidate, the most important changes include several package upgrades (GIMP 2.4.0rc1, udev 114, alsa-lib 1.0.14, OpenSSH 4.6p1), bug fixes in the system installer, and improved stability. On the software front, Baihong is based on Debian's testing and unstable branches with kernel 2.6.22, glibc 2.6, and GCC 4.1.2, while the desktop is powered by X.Org 7.2 and GNOME 2.20. RAYS 2.0 is a pure installation CD with the language support limited to simplified Chinese and no hard disk partitioning mechanism (the system will take over the entire hard disk).
