Server Optimized Linux
SoL (Server optimized Linux) was a Linux distribution completely independent from other Linux distributions. It was built from the original source packages and was optimised for heavy-duty server work. It contains all common server applications, and features XML boot and script technology that makes it easy to configure and make the server work.

JÃŒrg Billeter has announced the release of paldo 1.12, an independently developed source/binary distribution that uses the Upkg package management system: "The paldo Team is proud to announce the release of paldo GNU/Linux 1.12. The paldo live CD now comes with an easy-to-use graphical installer which will install 2 GB of up-to-date software on your system in a few minutes. The new paldo 1.12 ships with OpenOffice.org 2.3.0, GNOME 2.20.1, Linux 2.6.23.1, and X.Org 7.3 with input hotplug support for x86 and x86_64 architectures. This version features a new GDM theme and default desktop background. There is also a server and a media center version available via network installation." JÃŒrg Billeter has announced the release of paldo GNU/Linux, a hybrid (source and binary) distribution for the desktop with a custom package management system: "We are pleased to announce the release of paldo 1.15 with many bug fixes and updates. It features the latest stable GNOME 2.22.3 desktop, OpenOffice.org 2.4.1, Firefox 3.0.1, Eclipse 3.4, and VirtualBox 1.6.2. Also included are Linux kernel 2.6.25.15 to support new devices, X.Org 7.3, updated proprietary drivers for NVIDIA and AMD graphic cards, and Wammu 0.27 to simplify cell phone synchronization. NetworkManager 0.7 enables easy Internet connections with GSM/UMTS and DSL. With SMPlayer 0.6.1 playing videos and DVDs has a new comfort. The easy-to-use graphical installer has been updated to make the installation from the Live CD as simple as possible. JÃŒrg Billeter has announced the release of paldo GNU/Linux 1.14, an independently developed, hybrid source/binary distribution with a custom package management tool: "We are pleased to announce the release of paldo GNU/Linux 1.14 with many bug fixes and updates. During this development cycle we integrated some major changes. One of the bigger moves was the update to GNOME 2.22, which brought many new features, such as better support for network file systems, a polished Evolution, and some window compositing eye-candy. Another nice improvement is the addition of OpenOffice.org 2.4. The kernel has been updated to version 2.6.24 to support the latest technologies and drivers.
