Flavio Pereira de Oliveira has announced the availability of the first release candidate for GoblinX 2.7, a Slackware-based desktop distribution and live CD. From the changelog: "Added initrd.img to be used by suspend and hibernate after install; added isolinux option to not load customization during boot; moved z.User and i18n internationalization modules to /optional directory; corrected some small errors and bugs; changed hibernate to use swap file or swap partition; added new settings for LILO after install; upgraded some packages, interfaces and scripts; added Slik (Slax Webmount Protocol); added script to check free space on USB pen drives; added better functions to save and restore changes; added GoblinX Installer help; added Userspace Software Suspend, Pm-utils, vbetool, RutilT, lm-sensors; edited some KDE customizations, WindowMaker menu and other desktop features." Flavio Pereira de Oliveira has announced the release of Imagineos 20110605, a Slackware-based distribution formerly known as GoblinX: "The new Imagineos release is finally available. This live CD created by using linux-live scripts with a few modifications uses KDE (4.5.5) as the desktop environment and is based on Slackware 13.37 with more applications and features. Some versions of major components of the system: Zen kernel 2.6.38.4, Squashfs 4.2, Aufs 20110502, GCC 4.5.3, Binutils 2.21.51.0.6, glibc 2.13. Changelog: system upgraded; bootsplash is again our splash manager; Plymouth removed; user created during hard disk install process is the default user; included AbiWord because it is important to have a word processor...." Flavio Pereira de Oliveira has announced the release of Imagineos 20101103, a Slackware-based live CD formerly known as GoblinX: "The second Imagineos release is finally available. This live CD, created by using linux-live scripts with few modifications, uses KDE 4.5.1 as the desktop environment and its based on Slackware 'Current' with more applications and features. Some versions of major components of the system: Linux kernel 2.6.33 (with Zen kernel patch), glibc 2.12.1. Changelog: added some small modifications to the Imagineos hard disk installer; added the possibility to load ATI, NVIDIA and Intel video card modules before Plymouth starts; added lines inside rc.imagineos boot script to force Intel video card modules to restart using kernel modeset...." Flavio Pereira de Oliveira has announced the availability of the first public release of Imagineos, a Slackware-based live CD that used to be known as GoblinX: "It is a great pleasure to announce the first release of Imagineos. Imagineos is born from GoblinX Linux following the same path started more than five years ago. This first version is based on Slackware 13.1 with more applications and features; however, it is a live CD created using linux-live scripts with few modifications. The Imagineos 20100628 X1 uses Xfce as the desktop environment. This is the first public release and even though it is based on Slackware stable it must be considered as a beta version. Some versions of major components of the system: Linux kernel 2.6.33 (with Zen kernel patch), Squashfs 20100119, Aufs 20100116, C compiler GCC 4.4.4, Binutils 2.20.51.0.8, GNU C Library glibc 2.11.1, X Window system updated (but not 'bleeding edge') packages from X.Org, Xfce 4.6.1." Flavio Pereira de Oliveira has announced the release of GoblinX 3.0 "G:Standard", a Slackware-based live CD featuring the KDE 4 desktop: "The GoblinX Project is proud to announce the released of the new stable G:Standard. In the past, GoblinX Standard included five windows managers and also supported five languages, but G:Standard is now the KDE distribution of our project and it includes only the default English language. Changelog: upgraded several packages and libraries including X.Org; fixed some errors and bugs; added a few more applications; made a few changes to the KDE desktop in order to improve usability; some GTK+ applications added to fill missing Qt applications; added Opera 10 with full Slik/Webmount support." G:Noblin is GoblinX GNOME. This edition is ideal for those users who prefer the GNOME desktop environment. The G:Noblin edition includes the latest packages of GNOME 2.24 and several improvements and modifications in the core of the system. Some important changes are: several bugs and errors have been corrected, added Vuze and Java JRE, some duplicated applications were removed, and some interfaces were rebuilt to look better inside netbooks. The G:Mini, formerly known as 'GoblinX Mini' is the son of GoblinX and contains only Xfce as the windows manager and GTK+ applications. g:Mini 3.0 includes the latest Xfce 4.6 which has brought several improvements and new features. Xfce session now offers hibernate and suspend options. It has a new notification system with themes managed by Xfce 'notifyd', Xfce power manager to help laptop users set up a power profile for two different modes, Gigolo to manage connections to remote file systems, a better control center and more." G:Standard is the original edition, first released at the end of October 2004, when it was called GoblinX and later GoblinX Standard. In order to dismiss doubts about the releases and follow the same criteria used for all editions of the GoblinX project, it has become G:Standard. In the past, GoblinX Standard included five window managers and also support for five languages, but G:Standard is now a KDE-only edition and, because of the limited space, it includes only the default English language."
