GeeXboX
GeeXboX was a free and open-source media centre oriented Linux distribution for embedded devices and desktop computers. It was a full-featured operating system that can be booted from a live CD, a USB key, an SD/MMC card or it can be installed on a regular hard disk drive. The GeeXboX distribution was lightweight and designed for one single goal - to embed all major multimedia applications in order to turn any computer into a home theatre personal computer. The GeeXboX project was a non-commercial organization founded in 2002.

Rafael Bonifaz has announced the release of Elastix 2.2, a CentOS-based telephony distribution whose goal is to integrate the best tools available for Asterisk-based Private Branch Exchanges (PBX) into a single, easy-to-use interface: "Now available Elastix 2.2 and the elastixWorld 2011 attendees were the first to witness the improvements in this new Elastix stable version. In this version you will enjoy a new and improved interface and the upgrading of Asterisk among other additions such as: Elastix Web Services module, MarketPlace module, Statistics module, Advanced Security Settings module; CentOS and kernel upgrades; Asterisk 1.8.7.0 update; security and bug fixes; definition of the AMI and ARI credentials in Elastix's first-boot process; support for the Operator Panel in Internet Explorer and Firefox; minor graphic and language bug fixes." About Elastix

Elastix is a Linux distribution that integrates the best tools available for Asterisk-based Private Branch Exchanges (PBX) into a single, easy-to-use interface. It also adds its own set of utilities and allows for the creation of third-party modules to make it an excellent software package available for open source telephony. Based on Debian since version 5.0.0 released in November 2017 (previous versions were was based on CentOS).

After six release candidates, Rafael Bonifaz announced the availability of Elastix 2.0, a CentOS-based Linux distribution that integrates the best tools available for Asterisk-based Private Branch Exchanges (PBX) into a single, easy-to-use interface: "Elastix 2.0 includes many suggestions received from our users as well as many new ideas around Unified Communications. The ability to extend new functionalities through add-ons will allow Elastix to adapt to the requirements of broad scenarios, while at the same time enabling the integration with third party applications. There are lots of new functionalities included in this release. We will highlight the most relevant in this article: renovated dashboard, add-ons, Elastix operator panel, Elastix conference room, mail module improvements, web-based faxing, DHCP module improvements, automatic backups, and agenda module improvements." Rafael Bonifaz has announced the release of Elastix 1.6.0, a CentOS-based Linux distribution that integrates the best tools available for Asterisk-based Private Branch Exchanges (PBX) into a single, easy-to-use interface: "We are proud to announce the release of Elastix 1.6 stable. It can be downloaded in 32-bit or 64-bit ISOs. This release has several improvements from Elastix 1.5 that fix bugs from Elastix and CentOS. Here are some of the more important changes: Asterisk updated to 1.4.26.1; Dahdi updated to 2.2.0.2; Asterisk now supports Huawei modems as trunks; Elastix 32-bit and 64-bit synchronization, now both editions have the same packages; Elastix package now provides elastix-additionals for easier updates...."
