Liraz Siri has announced the release of Turnkey Linux 11.3, an Ubuntu-based set of highly specialised virtual appliances which integrate open-source software into ready-to-use solutions: "We've just pushed out TurnKey Linux 11.3, the final maintenance release based on Ubuntu 10.04. The next release will be based on Ubuntu 12.04. We're already shifting into high gear for that. There will be surprises. Hopefully good ones! The new images we just pushed out from our CloudTask automation swarm include fixes for various bruises and scrapes, as well as the very latest security updates. If you've already installed a previous version of TurnKey 11, you don't need to download anything because by default TurnKey is configured to automatically install all of the security updates over the network. Jeremy Davis has announced the release of TurnKey Linux 17.0, a new stable version of the project's highly-specialised, single-purpose set of server appliances. The project's version 17.0 is based on Debian 11 and includes an experimental build for Raspberry Pi 4 computers: "I'm excited to finally announce the stable release of Turnkey 17.0. It has been a bit of a slog, taking way longer than I had hoped and there are only two this time. Regardless, we've finally made it to the stable release milestone, at least for Core and TKLDev. Hopefully we can keep the momentum up and have more v17.0 appliances ready really soon! In the meantime, these two new version 17.0 appliances are published to our mirror network and are also available for download direct from their relevant appliance pages or launched directly from the Hub. Jeremy Davis has announced the release of TurnKey Linux 16.0, a new stable version of the project's specialised, single-purpose server appliances. This is the distribution's first release based on Debian 10: "With great excitement and a sense of relief, it is my immense pleasure to announce the highly anticipated and well overdue first batch of version 16.0 stable TurnKey Linux appliances. These may well be our best appliances yet, although we'll allow you to be the judge of that. Most of the significant changes in version 16.x have occurred under the hood. As noted in the release candidate announcement the main changes have generally been at the software level, although much of the work will likely not be immediately obvious to an end user. In some instances, we have moved from our own forks of software (e.g. Casper for live ISO functionality) to Debian defaults ('live-boot' and 'live-tools'). Jeremy Davis has announced the release of TurnKey Linux 15.0, a large set of single-purpose server appliances for various specialist tasks: "I am overjoyed to announce stage 1 of the TurnKey 15.0 stable release is now available. Stage 1 includes nearly half the library (47 appliances to be precise), albeit only in ISO format so far. We are busily preparing updated Hub builds, as well as Amazon MarketPlace builds which I hope to announce very soon too. All the other build types (i.e. VM/OVA, OpenStack, Proxmox/LXC, Xen and Docker) will follow soon after. The relevant 15.0 ISOs are all available for download via the '15.0' links on their respective appliance pages. Updated appliances for this stage include Core LAMP, WordPress, Joomla 3, Drupal 7, Drupal 8 and more. 15.0 changes worthy of particular note include a new Debian base operating system, inclusion of PHP 7, MariaDB replaces MySQL, a new Webmin theme, Reproducible Packages and website upgrades...." Jeremy Davis has announced the availability of the first release candidate for TurnKey Linux 15.0, an upcoming new build of the project's set of virtual appliances designed for highly specialised severs: "It is with great pleasure that I announce the release of Core 15.0RC1 and TKLDev 15.0RC1. With Debian Stretch out now for about 8 months, I had hoped to have this release finished long ago and perhaps even be working on v15.1. But unfortunately, wishes and hopes don't always have much to do with reality. Whilst I've more or less been in the release development driver seat since 14.0, this release has been my first full development of an TurnKey OS base transition. Alon did most of the initial development work migrating from a Wheezy base to Jessie, for Core and TKLDev 14.0RC1. It taken me a lot more effort that I had anticipated. Distribution Release: TurnKey Linux 14.1 |

The TurnKey Linux project has announced the release of a new version of the project's many server appliances. The new version, TurnKey Linux 14.1, is based on Debian's Stable branch and features many bug fixes. "The v14.1 release sees a massive amount of bugs squashed and features added (43 and 20 respectively; plus some other more generic issues). It's fantastic to squash so many bugs this release. One of the bugs we've finally fixed was reported all the way back in 2012! It's a bit embarrassing to have a bug hang around that long; but it's a massive relief to finally close it! All v14.1 appliances are built on Debian 8.4 and include all the latest Debian security fixes and package updates, as well as the latest TurnKey software updates. TurnKey updates include TKLBAM, confconsole, inithooks (including significant improvements to the fence - relevant to headless builds only) and deck (TKLDev only). All appliances have more strict password complexity requirements now too. They require minimum 8 characters with at least one of each: uppercase, lowercase and number(s)." Jeremy Davis has announced the release of TurnKey Linux 14.0, a major new version of the project's extensive set of highly specialised virtual appliances made for severs. The new version is for 64-bit systems only, it is based on Debian GNU/Linux 8.0, and it includes a number of interesting new appliances: "Ansible is an IT automation tool, it can configure systems, deploy software, and orchestrate more advanced IT tasks such as continuous deployments or zero downtime rolling updates. EspoCRM is light-weight CRM platform targeted at small to medium business. The Foodsoft appliance has been a long time coming. Laravel is a PHP framework with the tagline of 'The PHP Framework For Web Artisans'. SuiteCRM is a CRM suite forked from SugarCRM provided with additional modules." The new TurnKey release candidate is based on Debian "Jessie" and features TurnKey's Core and TKLDev editions. These editions are available as 64-bit builds only as the TurnKey project now considers 32-bit x86 to be a legacy architecture. "As many seasoned TurnKey users would know, historically a major version bump means a rebase on a new OS version. And as I mentioned above, v14.0 is no exception. TurnKey Linux v14.0 is built on top of Debian Jessie (aka Debian 8). As there are significant changes that come with Jessie we could really do with some community help on this one. Alon has built these first RCs but I am sure that there will be plenty of issues we'll need to resolve. Just finding the bugs and reporting them on our Issue Tracker (or even just posting here) would be a massive help!"
