The LliureX distribution is an Edubuntu-based live and installation DVD with support for the Valencian and Spanish languages. It is intended as an operating system for educational institutions in the Valencia region. LliureX uses exclusively free software and is distributed free of charge.

Pear Linux 6.1 builds on top of our popular previous release of Pear Linux 6 with newly updated software. As Pear Linux 6.1 is based on Ubuntu 12.04.1 it is an LTS (Long-Term Support) release, provided with 5 years of security updates. Pear OS 4, a new version of the Ubuntu-based Linux distribution of many names, including Pear Linux or Comice OS, has been released: "Comice OS 4 - available now. New features at a glance: Comice OS Shell, Pear Appstore, Skype, LibreOffice. Pear Appstore is one of the most highlighted applications of Comice OS. Installing new application is just a one-click thing. It supports parallel downloading, resuming downloads, update notification and cache cleaning. Comice Shell is a modification of GNOME Shell according to visions of Pear Linux. Mission Control allows you to view running applications and the various workspaces used. Click the Launchpad icon in your dock and your open windows fade away, replaced by a view of all the applications on your PC. David Tavares has announced the release of Pear OS 4.0, a desktop distribution with a Mac OS X-like look and feel and based on a recent alpha build of Ubuntu 12.04. As a result, it contains a large number of software packages currently in beta testing, such GNOME 3.3, GTK+ 3.3.14, glibc 2.15-pre6, Firefox and Thunderbird 11.0b1, LibreOffice 3.5-beta2 and Mesa 8.0rc2, so proceed with caution. From the release announcement (which calls this release "Comice OS"): "Comice OS 4.0-b is available to download. This version fixes several bugs discovered in the first version: fixed a bug on boot (GRUB); fixed a bug with the driver manager; fixed a bug during the end of installation; fixed some configurations files; fixed sources.list and lsb-release; update of various software packages; fixed a little bug of Pear Appstore. From the desktop you see when you start up your PC to the applications you use every day, everything is designed to be simple and intuitive. Of course, making amazing things simple requires some seriously advanced technologies, and Pear OS is loaded with them. Working and playing on a PC is all about applications, so Pear OS makes it simple to find and open those applications fast. The Dock is a handy place on your desktop for storing and launching your favorite applications, and it makes switching between them a breeze."
