Distribution Release: MakuluLinux 2021-03-05 |
Jacque Montague Raymer has announced the release of MakuluLinux 2021-03-05 "LinDoz" edition, a desktop Linux distribution with a Cinnamon desktop customised to resemble the desktop interface of Microsoft Windows. This release is based on Ubuntu 20.04: "MakuluLinux 'LinDoz' is built on our new hybrid 2020/21 base (which fully supports the new 'Focal' repositories and the move to Python 3) and designed on a heavily modified Cinnamon 4.8.2 framework. Designed to make the user transition from Windows to Linux easier and more comfortable while still retaining its Linux roots has been quite a challenge, and one we focused heavily on two fronts - keep a familiar Windows-like look, but push the Linux experience. With all new GUI and features to make the user experience easier, using the new 'LinDoz' is a breeze and feels very comfortable. Standout features of the new LinDoz 2021: introduction video that guides the user around the desktop; more streamlined themes, Lindoz now offers 12 theme variants...." Distribution Release: MakuluLinux 2020 "Flash" |
Jacque Montague Raymer has announced the release of MakuluLinux 2020 "Flash" edition, an Ubuntu-based desktop Linux distribution featuring a 5.3 Linux kernel and a highly customised Xfce desktop: "Built on the new 2020 MakuluLinux base and our second release this year, MakuluLinux 2020 'Flash' will not disappoint. It is lightning-fast, it sports a dual-menu setup, yet keeps a very traditional, retro-style desktop layout. At first glance, it looks very modern, offering plenty of transparency, a beautiful wallpaper and some great menu options. It also sports a very nice variety of icon sets and theme selection that you just won't find anywhere else. Finding a good variety of themes since the GTK 3.20 release is nearly impossible as most prior themes are now broken, leaving users with only a handful of good theme choices, most of which look the same. You want a nice pink or purple theme? There aren't any. Want a nice brown or yellow theme? Sorry, they are all broken now. This led us to make the choice of designing our own themes." Distribution Release: MakuluLinux 2019.01.25 |
MakuluLinux is a Debian-based desktop distribution which ships with many applications and media codecs installed out of the box. The project has published an update, MakuluLinux 2019.01.25, to its Core series which experiments with mouse gestures. This allows users to optionally use their computer almost entirely without the aid of a keyboard. "The optional gesture system will let users navigate their computers with barely even having to touch a keyboard if that is their wish. The more traditional users don't have to enable gestures, they can simply use the operating system in much the same way they are used to navigating Linux. Core also offers many 'instant access' features like a one-click wallpaper changer or one-click 3D option, easily control every aspect of your OS with a simply few clicks." Further information and a list of supported features can be found in the distribution's blog post. The page also features a video of the gestures system in action.
