Philip Müller has announced the launch of Manjaro Linux 0.8.13. Manjaro is an Arch-based distribution with friendly text and graphical system installers and the project offers many desktop utilities out of the box. "After four months of development we are happy to present to you Manjaro 0.8.13. This time we ship Xfce 4.12 tweaked and patched to have the best Xfce experience possible, Plasma 5.3.1, KDE Frameworks 5.10.0 and latest KDE Apps 15.04.1!" The announcement goes on to list specific upgrades to the project's Xfce and KDE editions. New improvements can also be found in the distribution's system installer: "We worked also hard to improve our graphical installer Thus and our system tools to make the installation and usage of Manjaro as easy and smooth as possible. With this install media we now support Manjaro to be installed on MMC/SD-Cards as well. This will allow some of you to install our distribution to smaller devices without hard drives. Also this install media fixes the issue we had with RAID0 and ext4." Further information on this release can be found in the project's release announcement. Distribution Release: Manjaro Linux 24.1.0 |
Philip Müller has announced the release of Manjaro Linux 24.1.0, an updated build of the project's rolling-release distribution with separate GNOME, KDE Plasma and Xfce editions. The new release comes with GNOME 46.5, KDE Plasma 6.1 and Linux kernel 6.10: "Since we released 'Wynsdey' in May 2024, we worked hard to get the next release of Manjaro out there. We call it Xahea. The GNOME edition has received several updates to GNOME 46 series. This includes a lot of fixes and polish when GNOME 46 originally was released in March 2024. The Plasma edition comes with the latest Plasma 6.1 series 1 and KDE Gear 24.08 1. It brings exciting new improvements to your desktop. Plasma 6 hits its stride with version 6.1. While Plasma 6.0 was all about getting the migration to the underlying Qt 6 frameworks correct, 6.1 is where developers start implementing the features that will take your desktop to a new level." Distribution Release: Manjaro Linux 24.0 |
Philip Müller has announced the release of Manjaro Linux 24.0, a new version of the project's rolling-release distribution with separate GNOME, KDE Plasma and Xfce editions. It introduces GNOME 46 and KDE Plasma 6, as well as the brand-new Linux kernel 6.9: "Manjaro 24.0 'Wynsdey' released. Since we released Vulcan in December 2023 we worked hard to get the next release of Manjaro out there. We call it Wynsdey. This is also our first release which comes with Plasma 6. The GNOME edition has received several updates to GNOME 46 series. This includes a lot of fixes and polish when GNOME 46 originally was released in March 2024. GNOME's file manager comes with a new global search feature in GNOME 46. Global search is a great way to jump directly into search, without having to think about where the items you want are located. The new feature also leverages GNOME's existing file search capabilities, including the ability to search the contents of files, and filter by file type and modification date." Distribution Release: Manjaro Linux 23.1.0 |
The Manjaro Linux team has published a new snapshot of the project's rolling-release distribution. The new 23.1.0 release offers up to date desktop environments with the main editions offering GNOME 45, KDE Plasma 5.27, and Xfce 4.18. "One of the most noticeable changes in GNOME 45 is the new activities button. Located in the corner of the top bar, this button was previously labelled “Activities”. In GNOME 45, this static label has been replaced with a dynamic workspace indicator. The new button design is a response to user testing results over recent years, and we are confident that its purpose will be more obvious to new GNOME users. As part of this change, the old app menu (which showed the name of the currently focused app), was also retired. This retirement was another response to user testing results, and was required to make space for the new design. Search performance has been a major area of work for GNOME 45. These performance improvements have been made to a range of apps, including Software, Characters, Clocks, Files, and Calculator. Together, these changes result in faster search and reduced resource usage, which can be seen in both individual apps and in system search." Additional highlights are presented in the project's release announcement. Distribution Release: Manjaro Linux 23.0 |
Philip Müller has announced the release of Manjaro Linux 23.0, a significant update of the project's rolling-release distribution featuring GNOME, KDE Plasma and Xfce editions. The new version brings GNOME 44, KDE Plasma 5.27 LTS and Xfce 4.18, together with a cutting-edge Linux kernel, version 6.5: "Manjaro 23.0 'Uranos' released. The GNOME edition has received several updates to GNOME 44 series. This includes a lot of fixes and polish when GNOME 44 originally was released in March 2023. GNOME's file chooser dialogs have only ever had a list view, which is great when you want to pick a file based on its name, but isn’t so good when picking files based on their thumbnails. Over the years, GNOME users have therefore repeatedly requested that a grid view be added to the file chooser. This has been one of the most positively received changes in our history, so we are confident that people will like it added in this release cycle. The Plasma edition comes with the latest Plasma 5.27 LTS series and KDE Gear 23.08. It brings exciting new improvements to your desktop." Continue to the release announcement for further information.
