The Kwort Linux project, which develops a CRUX-based distribution that strives to maintain a minimal operating system, has released an update to its 4.3 series. The new version, Kwort Linux 4.3.1, includes a number of security fixes and improvements to the bootloader installation process. "This is minor fix of Kwort 4.3, involving some security upgrades and some improvements in our bootloaders' installation. If you want to upgrade from Kwort 4.3 to this new release, you can simply run: kpkg update && kpkg upgrade. Our bootloaders' installation has improved significantly as well as the ISO bootup. For bootloaders, we have the traditional bootloader LILO and GRUB2 with and without UEFI support, all of them with LVM support if needed as well. For those wanting to use GRUB2 there's a tool now called kwort-grub-installer that will automatically configure and install the GRUB2 bootloader for you." Kwort Linux is a CRUX-based Linux distribution that uses the GTK+ toolkit and the Openbox window manager. Its most prominent feature is a package manager, called kpkg. The project's latest version, Kwort 4.3.5, introduces updated kernel, compiler, and package management packages. The distribution's news page lists the highlights of the release: "I'm very proud to announce this new release which shows how the project got to a very mature level. New goodies included in the user interface, a few bug fixes from the previous release and of course, the latest stable packages. Let's talk a little of what we have here: Linux kernel 5.10.1 - yes, the brand new Linux LTS release. New toolchain including glibc 2.32, GCC 10.2.0 and Binutils 2.35.1. kpkg 130. Mirror kdb files are now included in the installation to avoid repeating issues from the past. Latest browsers including Google Chrome 87.0.4280.88 and Mozilla Firefox 84.0. The newest version of Brave is already available on the mirrors. kwort-tools now includes encryption support through /etc/rc.d/encryption using /etc/etab (format is 'directory' 'key file') and we have added a few improvements on kwort-mixer to add more stability. David Cortarello has announced the release of Kwort Linux 4.3.4, the latest stable version of the project's CRUX-based distribution featuring the Openbox window manager and custom package manager called kpkg: "Yes, it's that time again, Kwort 4.3.4 is out. We included PulseAudio which is now very stable and it has been working very well, including with bluez5 (which has also been included in this release for the first time). So let's jump now to the technical highlights of this release: Linux kernel 4.19.46 (sorry folks, there's no long-term relase of 5.x branch yet); new toolchain including glibc 2.28, GCC 8.3.0 and Binutils 2.32; kpkg 130; latest browsers including Google Chrome 75.0.3770.90 and Mozilla Firefox 67.0.2, Brave 0.68.50 is available from the mirror; Kwort-choosers package has been replaced with kwort-tools including the old browser and custom xdg-open and the new kwort-mixer to support both sound backends (ALSA and PulseAudio); new UI shortcuts are now fully documented; we found a good graphical music player called Museeks which is now included in the system." Kwort Linux is a CRUX-based distribution that uses the GTK+ toolkit and the Openbox window manager. Its most prominent feature is a package manager, called kpkg, for retrieving packages. The Kwort distribution has published a new release, Kwort 4.3.3, which includes two compilers and several key package updates. "Well, this was supposed to happen, our system has highly increased its size. Not that too many dependencies were added, but LLVM, which [is] huge, is now part of the standard image. Hopefully we'll have again one compiler in the future, but for now we need two. Having said that the system keeps being simple and fast and with everything on the right spot. Most significant technical aspects are: Linux kernel 4.14.40; new toolchain with glibc 2.27, GCC 7.3.0 and Binutils 2.29.1; new kpkg has some new features and new documented variables to make it less error prone and more automated; official kdb file is now included in the kpkg package, so no need to download it and install it manually any more; Chromium 65.0.3325.181, Brave 0.22.22 available in the mirror, Firefox has been left out; Kwort-choosers package are a new in-house tool to implements user interaction with dmenu for choosing browsers or interacting with mocp." Kwort Linux 4.3.2 has been released. Kwort Linux is a minimalist distribution with a desktop built around the Openbox window manager and its own package manager called kpkg. It is based on CRUX and is designed for advanced Linux users. "Kwort 4.3.2 is available for download. Clean system, as always, allows us to remain simple and fast. You'll see that this release is a little bit bigger as we include the linux-firmware package as in the previous release and also LLVM to allow a few X.Org drivers to work properly. Most significant technical aspects are: Linux kernel 4.8.15 and glibc 2.24; new kpkg version provides support for checking available upgrades before fetching and upgrading (diff option); GTK+ 3 is now included as part of the distribution; look & feel has been improved and both, GTK+ 2 and GTK+ 3, are themed to make both toolkits work together in a seamlessly way; Chromium 56.0.2924.28 which supports latest glibc (previous versions of Chromium break with glibc 2.24)."
