Zephix is a live Linux operating system based on Debian's stable branch. It runs totally from removable media without touching any files stored on the user's system disk. The project's latest version, Zephix 6, uses the same base and most of the same package versions as Zephix 5, but introduces several improvements to the boot process. "Fixed UEFI issue of not booting on specific systems and on latest VirtualBox. Updated base to Debian 11.6 adding corrections for security issues, along with a few adjustments for serious problems. Optimised the 'toram' boot option mechanism - to boot Zephix totally in memory, it now requires 1.5GB RAM (core, firmware and desktop modules) or 512MB RAM (core module only). Updated module creation and manipulation scripts making it much easier to create new modules without having to reboot the ISO after creating a single module and also reducing the size of each module accordingly (refer to the Customise section for more details). Updated desktop and firmware modules. Optimised boot sequence code for a cleaner and smoother boot process." Additional information is available on the distribution's about page. | About Zephix
| Zephix is a live Linux operating system based on Debian's stable branch. It runs totally from removable media without touching any files stored on the user's system disk. The aim of Zephix is to provide a free modular operating system that users can carry with them and use wherever there is a laptop or a desktop system available. The default ISO image used to come without any graphical interface, with several desktop modules made available separately; however, starting with version 8 the project adopted the i3 window manager as the sole graphical user interface.

Distribution Release: Zephix 8 |
Robert Spiteri has announced a major new release of Zephix, a lightweight and fast Linux distribution, based on Debian's "Stable" branch and built for simplicity and speed. This release marks a departure from the project's modular approach with several popular desktop options; instead, Zephix 8 adopts the i3 tiling window manager as the sole desktop user interface. It is based on the recently-released Debian 13. "Zephix 8 (Zephix_8-x86_64) has been released: updated distribution principles, embracing simplicity and speed as core principles, moving away from a modular approach to deliver unparalleled performance; streamlined the user experience by adopting i3 as the sole interface, eliminating the complexity of multiple desktops; included firmware drivers to ensure seamless compatibility with a wide range of laptops; packaged essential software like GIMP, Inkscape, VLC, LibreOffice and other utilities, making the distribution ideal for daily use; revamped the official website to reflect all these changes." Visit the project's home page to read the brief release announcement. Zephix 8 is available for download (MD5) from SourceForge: Zephix_8-x86_64.iso (1,637MB, pkglist). |

Distribution Release: Zephix 7 |
Robert Spiteri has announced the release of Zephix 7, a major new release from a project that develops a small, modular operating system based on Debian's "stable" branch. Zephix 7 is based on Debian 12 and it is available as a set of pre-built desktop modules with several popular desktop environments: "Zephix 7 was released with major enhancements. Updated base to Debian 12.1; heavily redesigned module creation and manipulation scripts; renamed scripts for better convention; added three new scripts - to create a custom core module, to merge two modules together and to extend swap space when building large modules; added the default behaviour to automatically move the newly created modules to the correct location; removed further unnecessary bloat from the final ISO image, reducing size to 380 MB; removed firmware module and instead included a tool named isenkram (this can be used with USB tethering to install required missing firmware)...." Distribution Release: Zephix 5 |
Zephix, a recent addition to DistroWatch, has been updated to version 5. Zephix is a live Linux distribution based on Debian's stable branch; its aim is to provide a free modular operating system that users can carry with them and use wherever there is a laptop or a desktop system available. Besides the main ISO image, the development team also provides various modules which can be added to the live image to extend its usability. The new Zephix 5 re-introduces the LXQt desktop and firmware modules directly into the live system and ads a "to RAM" boot option: "Zephix 5 has been released. Updated Syslinux and GRUB boot logos to reflect more the Zephix theme; added a 'to RAM' boot option - Zephix can now be loaded totally in memory (if enough RAM is available); changed the default console font; included the desktop and firmware modules by default in the ISO image to make it more usable - this decision was taken thanks to the feedback received from various users." Visit the distribution's About page which contains all the recent changelogs and several screenshots. Download: Zephix-5R-20220430-x86_64.iso (1,204MB, pkglist). |

CloudLinux OS
CloudLinux OS was a commercial Linux distribution for servers, based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It was available in three editions, "Solo", "Admin" and "Shared Pro". The "Solo" edition was for single-user accounts; it includes website monitoring, performance detection and performance optimization tools. The "Admin" variant was for agencies, small and medium-sized businesses, and professionals with up to 5 hosting accounts, offering flexibility for virtual private servers (VPS) and dedicated servers. "Shared Pro" was the most advanced edition of CloudLinux OS as it includes advanced automation, deep-look performance analytics, and centralized monitoring tools. (Starting with version 10, CloudLinux OS ceased to provide installation ISO images; it now provides just a Bash script that converts an existing AlmaLinux installation into CloudLinux OS. As such, it was no longer classified as a "Linux distribution".)
