The Mauna Linux project has announced the release of Mauna Linux 25, a major update of the Brazilian project's desktop Linux distribution, based on Debian's "Stable" branch. The new release delivers a brand-new "GNOME" edition, alongside the well-established Cinnamon, LXQt, MATE and Xfce flavours: "We are pleased to announce the new version 25 of Mauna Linux. Mauna Linux 25, code-named 'Polaris' is based on and is fully compatible with Debian 13.1 'Trixie'. In this new version, we bring the GNOME Desktop, in addition to several updates from both the Debian team and Mauna. The star of this new version is the GNOME 48 desktop, which so many have requested and is now available to everyone. Gnome 48, codenamed 'Bengaluru', arrives with a set of minor new features or improvements, with a focus on user comfort. There are several new features in GNOME 48: notification grouping - it is now possible to stack notifications when they come from the same application, similar to what already happens on Android or iOS; improved image viewer...." | Mauna Linux is a Brazilian desktop Linux distribution based on Debian's "stable" branch. The project offers a set of live images with four desktop environments - Cinnamon, LXQt, MATE and Xfce, plus a separate "Christian Edition" which includes the Bible and various applications meant for use in churches. Some of the distribution's main features include the Calamares system installer, a software store with hundreds of applications maintained by Debian and Mauna Linux, a software manager and updater, and an out-of-the box support for the Portuguese language. The goal of Mauna Linux is to develop a distribution that is easy to use, practical and robust, and which would complement the existing Linux user communities in Brazil and abroad.

Distribution Release: Mauna Linux 24.7 |

The Mauna Linux project has announced the release of Mauna Linux 24.7, an updated build of the Brazilian project's set of Debian-based distributions with four popular desktop environments, plus a separate "Christian" edition. This new version comes with several updates and bug fixes, and is based on Debian 12.11. One of the most important updates of the release is the brand-new version 9.0 of OnlyOffice, a free multi-platform office suite with compatibility with Microsoft Office documents. OnlyOffice 9.0 comes with a redesigned user interface that is more intuitive and accessible. To take advantage of this, it is necessary to activate either the "Modern Light" or the "Modern Dark" theme. The suite also includes a PDF editor that received important updates and productivity improvements. Mauna's Xfce variant now comes with the 6.12.30 Linux kernel, while all the other editions continue to use the upstream kernel, version 6.1.140. The included desktop environment versions are Cinnamon 6.0.2, LXQt 1.2.0, MATE 1.26 and Xfce 4.18. DesktopBSD was an operating system based on FreeBSD and the FreeSBIE live CD. Its main goal was to provide a desktop operating system that was easy to use, but still has all the functionality and power of BSD. In the long term, DesktopBSD wants to build an operating system that meets most requirements desktop users have, like installing software, configuring power management or sharing an internet connection.
