After decades of using Debian as my trusted distro, I decided to venture out and try something new in 2026. The motivation came from a list on the ZDNet website, which featured BigLinux as one of the top distributions for the year. Curiosity got the better of me, and what a fantastic decision that was!
From the very first moment, I was impressed with the level of finish and polish of the system. It starts right at the GRUB bootloader, which already comes with a distinct customization by the BigLinux team. I chose the "Modern" theme in dark mode and proceeded to test if everything would work perfectly on my hardware.
To my surprise, not only did everything work out of the box, but I also noticed concrete improvements. The output sound became clearer, and believe it or not, my microphone quality gained remarkable clarity! The attention to detail goes beyond functionality: BigLinux's graphical interface is stunning, with an appearance that could easily make many other distributions envious.
The installation was smooth, straightforward, and hassle-free—quite different from the usual hurdles. The system is extremely intuitive. The biggest highlight for me, however, was the BigLinux Control Center. That's where you find everything you need, all in one place: from adjusting screen resolution and configuring multiple monitors to completely customizing the system's appearance with themes and icons.
The bottom line? BigLinux is a sensational system, truly ready for use. It removes barriers and complexities, delivering a robust and refined experience. It undoubtedly deserves a prominent position in the Linux world.
I am seriously considering making it my main operating system. A huge thank you to the BigLinux team for their excellent work!
I tried BigLinux looking for something user-friendly like Linux Mint, but with newer software. At first it seemed great: lots of custom tools and everything ready out of the box.
The problems started with updates. More than once, after a bigger update, the system ran into dependency conflicts or file errors. A couple of times it would not even boot properly, leaving the desktop broken. I had to boot from a live USB, roll back with Timeshift or apply fixes I found in forums. It worked, but it was time-consuming and pretty frustrating.
Language support was another issue. Even with the system set to English, many BigLinux tools like the control center and app store still had menus and buttons in Portuguese, which made troubleshooting harder.
In the end, BigLinux tries to make a rolling-release system more accessible, but it does not really solve the core issues of an Arch-based distro. Updates can still break things, and the extra tools did not prevent that for me. After a few weeks, I decided to move to something more stable and predictable, I'm trying Nobara and enjoying it a lot.
I was genuinely impressed by BigLinux. From the very first minutes of use, the system felt incredibly fluid and responsive. Everything opens fast, animations are smooth, and the whole experience gives a strong sense of a distro that was carefully tuned for real-world performance.
What really won me over is how intelligently KDE Plasma is customized. Navigation feels natural, features are easy to find, and the desktop never feels cluttered or confusing. It is one of the most user-friendly and coherent KDE implementations I have ever used. On top of that, the visual themes are elegant and extremely well cared for, polished, modern, and comfortable for long daily use.
I also love the presence of unique tools developed specifically for BigLinux, like Big Audio Converter and Big Video Converter. They are practical, well integrated, and clearly show the distro’s strong multimedia vocation. This becomes even more evident in Dolphin’s context menu, which offers rich options to convert and resize images, edit audio and video, and even extract text from images using integrated OCR. This level of integration is simply fantastic.
To me, BigLinux feels like a hidden gem. It deserves far more attention than it gets. It is clearly suitable for both beginners and advanced users, delivering a complete, powerful, and beautifully crafted system. BigLinux is not just another distro, it feels like a truly finished operating system, built with competence and genuine care.
BigLinux is a Masterpiece of work. There are those that will dis anything that is not minimalist or doesn't allow them to look like a computer genius in their own eyes. BigLinux takes the most common tools and makes them look and run good. I'm running this on a virtual machine on a nearly 15 year old iMac with only 8 GB of RAM and only half of that allotted to BigLinux, and it still runs as smoothly as the Ubuntu 25.10 that's hosting it. BigLinux is to Manjaro much like Zorin is to Ubuntu. And yes that would make both BigLinux and Zorin grandchild distros to Arch and Debian. Enjoy it or go find something else, but please don't dis the BigLinux teams efforts.
This Brazilian distribution is very good, technically, easy to install and use (graphical Pamac for package management), stable (Manjaro base) and beautiful (good Plasma customization). The default browser is the Brave browser, blocking ads and trackers by default. However, some of the developers are rude and argue with users on social media. They can't handle criticism. How do you expect more users for your distro if you fight with them? I really don't understand. But I wish the distro all the best, despite the rude developers.
Very fast, even on live USB, complete distro ready to go. I had all my extra apps up and running quickly.
But settings are all over the place (in CachyOS, too), eg panel configuration (only available from the panel), desktop, system settings, control panel, login screen, display configuration, desktop and wall paper, menu editor, time configuration (Set Time Format, Configure Digital Clock).
PS. One great thing from the live USB: a system restore utility, in case you mess up your Grub with other distros or your settings while tinkering. Super easy with a simple, intermediate, and advanced recovery GUI app.
I've been using Linux for a long time. I've used many different distributions. Last week I installed BigLinux.
- During installation, it gave errors twice while installing GRUB. I installed it using manual partitioning and there were no problems. I think it's a minor issue that can be fixed.
- It recognized the equipment very easily.
- The graphics card and printer were easily installed with a single click.
- It's surprisingly fast. And its gaming performance is excellent. Of the games I've installed, there hasn't been one I couldn't play.
- The system works very stably. It's clear that it was meticulously prepared in every aspect.
- It's visually very beautiful.
I definitely recommend using it. Many thanks to the team that created BigLinux. They've done an excellent job.
I've been usig Linux since 2004. First Ubuntu and late all major distro's. Never ever have i encountered an operating system so swift and straightforward as Biglinux. The installation is a dream, the software is amazingly complete and the whole thing is userfriendly and in every way fast. Quite a strong team of developers. One remark which also counts for Zorinos and has nothing to do with the operating system is the use of the Brave browser. The Brave browser blocks the system on older hardware due to its hardware acceleration. But replacing Brave by Firefox makes everyting smooth again.
probably the best Linux distro I've ever tried, gonna stick to it for a while. It suffice my need in balancing between Windows and Linux environment. BigLinux includes the best and complete software repositories. Almost all software I frequently used in Windows are available in BigStore. Thank you for the hard work BigLinux team. And also, it has many customization features and good looking UI. It also has a very intuitive and beautiful terminal konsole, it's colorful. In terms of usability, it's also very easy to use.
There are also 3 community editions, XFCE (my fav), Cinnamon & GNOME. I'm running XFCE right now and it's good so far. You can download community editions on dedicated websites @communitybig, & download custom ISOs. It's based on Manjaro, comes with aur & flatpak out of the box. Default browser is Brave but you can install Firefox with one pacman command, or through dedicated software with gui. Lots of customization and additional apps are pre-installed. Quite good. I'm using it for a month and it's running as intended.
A very impressive distro, with beautiful design touches and a very comprehensive list of apps included in the standard desktop install, hence the longer than usual installation time.
Cons:
o it could be challenging for newbies to set up WiFi
o there was no automatic recognition of my 1 year old Brother printer and MFC as the Brother drivers are for rpm and deb
0 there is still a lot of screen information that has not been translated from Portugese
Not a huge challenge for the Big Linux team, who should be proud of their achievement to date.
Good evening everyone. I'm a relatively new Linux user and, out of curiosity and recommendation, I decided on a new distro, Biglinux, for my computer, and I must say it has surprised me very positively. One of the first things that captivated me was its fantastic optimization; the experience of running applications, including games (which I had downloaded for testing), ran better on this system than on my old Windows PC. It's quite practical and intuitive. I highly recommend Biglinux. I'd even say it has become my main distro.
I have been running Linux Mint Mate on my old Gateway computer and Linux Mint Cinnamon on my Acer Aspire desktop. Like Mint but on the Acer desktop it sometimes freezes, also runs a bit slow. I decided to try Big Linux on my mini pc that I recently purchased.
This mini was installed with Windows 11 pro. Needless to say, I hated Windows 11 for multiple reasons. The final straw was after it made 4 USB jump drives totally unrecognizable to my computers (including the mini running Windows 11) after I tried installing Linux boot files using Balena Etcher. My disk analyzer program on Mint reinstalled the disk image and new partition, making them usable again.
The install for Big Linux was fast and easy. Big runs great and it's faster than Mint. Love pretty much everything about it. Have not experienced any freezes, like sometimes occur on Mint. My only con is I have not figured out how to get Warpinator to work properly if I have the firewall for plasma installed. I am pretty sure it's my lack of knowledge in setting up that firewall though.
All in all, I would recommend Big Linux, especially for beginners wanting to switch from more recent versions of MS Windows. They will find similar features and ease of use. I personally removed all the MS and Google preinstalled programs as I do not want them.
Well I installed BigLinux on my Dell Latitude E7450 without any issues. Install was great and then I started going through the various icons and not all of them have been fully translated into English and still show up in Spanish or whatever language it is. That is a huge no no in my book.
I want to like this distro, but if those that are working on it can't even fully translate all of the distro into English, nope, not gonna happen. So I will be searching for another one to put on my laptop which was running Zorin OS 18.
As a Linux user for over a decade, BigLinux, based on Manjaro, stands out with a clear proposition: maximum practicality and unparalleled out-of-the-box experience. This is not a distro for those seeking the minimalism of pure Arch, but rather for those who value having a complete, optimized, and functional system right from the first boot.
The KDE Plasma environment comes highly customized and optimized, offering remarkable performance even on modest hardware. The team has done an excellent job integrating proprietary utilities that simplify system management, from drivers to backups. The Rolling Release nature ensures cutting-edge software, but with a layer of stability provided by Manjaro and BigLinux's own tools.
Pros
• Practicality and Optimization: The system is incredibly fast and comes with everything necessary pre-configured, saving hours of manual adjustments.
• Community and Support: The Telegram support is a huge differentiator. The Brazilian community is active, helpful, and assistance is near-instantaneous, which is a great relief for any user.
• Arch Stability: Offers the bleeding edge of Arch, but with the stability and ease of use guaranteed by Manjaro and BigLinux's proprietary tools.
Cons
• Not Minimalist: The distro comes "complete" and pre-configured, which may displease purists who prefer to build their system from scratch.
• Manjaro Base: For some, the slight delay in updates compared to pure Arch may be a point of concern, though it is the price of stability.
In summary, BigLinux is the perfect solution for those who want Arch performance without the hassle. It is a robust, fast system with excellent community support.
Final Verdict: The best out-of-the-box Arch-based experience, focused on productivity and featuring top-tier community support.
This distribution is a mess. Tried it recently. Manjaro is already a mess and having AUR which recently had security issues along systemD which is bloat, unsafe and buggy (these days had issues with wifi on Debian 13.1). I don't know to whom this distribution is for. If someones like Manjaro which is based on arch then why use Big linux which is based on a Manjaro ? As for it's name: Big... for some reason. Big because offers software people might not be interested in. Big because the iso is big. If i want bleeding edge i could use artix or obarun which are both based on Arch without the mess of systemD. Systems based on artix (metis linux for example) but the dev team is small so you have to think twice. If now i want a rolling system that is rock solid and stable on the other hand but NOT bleeding edge then Void linux is the obvious choice. So instead of messing with a distro that brings nothing new in the table (big linux i am looking at you) i could use Void linux anyday. 4 seconds to boot in the desktop is hard to beat. And if i need extra packages not only nix package manager exists but also xbps_src which is awesome.
I could not believe how easy is to install BigLinux, and how well it did perform in my laptop.
I use it as my main study tool, and it's amazing how everything works fine - it's an arch-based linux but for those who just want an prepared distribution, without losing the amazing pacman package tool.
I have games in it too, and almost all of them work as well or even better than with my MS Windows desktop, what is amazing.
Untill now, no CONS, all is well for me. I can't recomend enough, there's many packages, I believe you will not miss anything, except something exclusive for Windows ou Mac.
PS: before installing it, I was using ultramarine linux, based on Fedora, but I ran into too many problems with it, I did not like the repositories there, many problems with packages not being found anymore during updates. With BigLinux nothing like that anymore, and any difficult I ran into (just a few) I could solve because the errors gave me hints for it's own solution.
You won't believe the amazing wallpapers that this distro has!
At the moment i think is the best distro around for my hardware, i used every popular distro but none is even close to this, and funny part, i discovered this distro watching a video, i wasn't even aware this existed
Pro:- all hardware get immediately recognized
- top look ( that is never bad)
- Top wallpapers
Cons
- nothing for now
- its just unbelievably amazingly good, really
I reccomend everyone to change to this distro today.
Surprised by all the rave reviews about this distribution, I wanted to test it in a virtual machine. The result is indeed incredible: everything is perfectly polished, overall everything is translated correctly and many of the tools present make you feel very comfortable from the beginning... It's based on Manjaro stable, so I guess the very positive feedback is also about the stability of the whole, not just the aesthetics. This distribution is therefore to be tested for all those curious about the Linux ecosystem !
My rating would really be about 9.8, but I didn't want to drop all the way to a 9 for this item which some might consider a con:
Some messages and item labels on the custom tools, as well as much of the official forum, are in Brazilian Portuguese. However, if you post in English on the forum someone will reply in English. (On my side, I find the Simple Translate extension for Vivaldi to be very useful in general.)
One cool thing is that when I visited the main website, it must have detected my web-browser's default language and the page auto-translated itself. What I read on that page convinced me to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. :-)
For me a minor con (similar to some other distros these days) was the over-fancified BASH shell (sorry to the designer of that!); however, it was just a matter of identifying and uninstalling the Big Linux BASH customization package to make it more to my liking.
Another con for me (again a matter of taste) is that I had to disable a few more visual effects than with a typical install of KDE Plasma (the unholy triad of bouncy, bloopy, and the upper-left corner) -- but I do still like the subtle animations on the login screen -- very nice!
I have been a big fan of the Arch-based distros EndeavourOS and ArchCraft for two or three years. Subsequently, I have come to appreciate that Big Linux is based on Manjaro with an LTS kernel -- which means fewer updates overall compared to Arch, and less annoyance from kernel modules having to be recompiled for every micro point release of a non-LTS kernel.
For more background, I am a hobbyist dabbler in music production, so Big Linux (and its offshoot Xiva Studio) won points from me for having realtime privileges already set up for my user account, and "noatime" set for all the volumes and subvolumes in /etc/fstab. They sensibly left the question of whether to enable "threadirqs" to the end-user instead of including that in the default settings, so as to avoid thread starvation on systems with fewer cores.
Big Linux (and Xiva Studio) include some helpful assistants, e.g., the AppImage integrator and the assistants for installing .DEB and .RPM packages.
Although I do like a good-looking GUI app store, I had become so accustomed to using the terminal to install and upgrade packages that I usually avoided using the GUI, especially KDE's Discover.
However, I really appreciate and use Big Linux's Software Updater/Package Installer -- which can be configured to include the AUR, Flatpaks, and Snaps for both the search and upgrade functions -- I think that's some value added right there.
I also appreciate that Timeshift was already set up to do system snapshots, once immediately after installation, and daily after that. During installation (which uses Calamares, btw, and thank goodness for that!) I took a chance on trusting the distro’s recommended defaults, and I am happy with the results.
The wallpapers and avatars are cool and/or amusing. I appreciate the theme and desktop-layout selectors. One of the layouts was very close to my preferred setup for KDE Plasma 6, so for me that was a few steps saved post-install. And it seems they agree with me that gnome-calculator is the best looking one. ;-)
I don't do video calls, but I think one important feature to mention is their audio assistant for such calls, which helps to remove background noise (and maybe normalize volume levels?) for clearer communication.
One more thing I should mention which I find very respectable is their consideration of accessibility when putting together this distro.
Sorry if this has been too digressive and detailed, but I hope it has helped. In my case, Big Linux (and its offshoot Xiva Studio) and I seem to find ourselves in the same little curvy triangle at the center of some kind of personal Venn Diagram.
I can't understand why this distribution isn't the standard on the market. Why do we need anything else? Everything works flawlessly, looks great, and is meticulously designed down to the smallest detail. This is what Linux should be! For some reason, I need to add 250 more words here, even though everything has been said. This is, unfortunately, what you can still expect from Linux—puzzling decisions about trivial matters. But that's what sets BigLinux apart—its consistency. thank you for your attention
I am very impressed with Biglinux. Have installed on a Lenovo T450 and as a virtual machine on my HP daily work machine. It is stable, looks good and runs fast. It has several useful functions built in that save one lots of headaches.
1. It makes it easy to install downloaded programs regardless of whether they are deb or or rpm. It has a converter built in to ease installation. In addition to a good library or AUR, Manjaro and flatpak files.
2. It has a handy web apps feature that gives you access to a bunch of popular web apps such as Microsoft 360 and Spotify. Plus it provides a tool to add whatever web apps you may like.
3. It installs and runs Microsoft based apps under wine quickly and with very little user input.
Not a gamer. So no idea how it implements Steam or Lutris.
I am a 5 year user of MX Linux and Mint. I still run Mint as my everyday system. But I may switch soon.
Not impressed after a very brief (and fairly quick) regular install - you can play pong while it installs. Admittedly I used the same defaults I always use (ext4 rather than btrfs, light mode, etc.) so maybe it needs that to be efficient? In any case, it was very very slow upon first boot, and uses the longest set of kernel parameters I've ever seen, many not even applicable to my hardware. Ultimately I got it booted and into the desktop after eliminating all that, but it still took a good long while to load the DE. Not worth the effort to tame it into something closer to Arch IMO. Too many weirdnesses for me, including but not limited to its own app store, inconsistencies with English not always used, and a terminal prompt with that blocky/fancy look and too many lines...
I expected something more EOS or even Manjaro-like based on other reviews, but this ain't that, at least in my circumstance. It does have some fabulous theming however, which caused me to explore getting .heic images to work, so not a total waste of time. Great wallpapers do not a great distro make...
I tried this distrobution, and it felt really good at first/
It looks great, and everything felt snappy.
I like how they created their own theme on KDE plasma.
Tried it out for a few hours on a virtual machine. And I was nearly sold to install this on my main system, till I hit the following issue:
The only problem was that I kept running into Portuguese messages throughout the system.
It completely ruined the experience for me. I have nothing against other languages, but in a distro it should be consistent.
Once that is fixed I'll come back and try it again.
The little known and best arch/manjaro distro I tried! Fastest distro I used so far and more stable than CachyOS and EndeavourOS, I haven't tried Manjaro yet mostly because of negative reviews and how well BigLinux runs.
It's has it's own Package Manager 'Big Store' and Update Manager which work fine but I use 'yay' anyway.
I've had no issues installing the programs/apps I use, some that have been a struggle to install on other OS's.
Had no issues installing Mullvad VPN, Proton Bridge, MakeMKV, SMPlayer, LibreWolf, SRWare Iron, and OpenSnitch where I did on some other OS's.
I used Linux Mint for years as my main OS until a couple years ago and now using BigLinux as my daily OS, while having CachyOS, EndeavourOS and Mint as secondary OS's.
Mint is very stable but BigLinux is right there or even more stable.
Currently using... KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.3, KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0, Qt Version: 6.8.2. Kernel Version: 6.14.0-1, MANJARO (64-bit), Graphics Platform: Wayland.
KDE Plasma is smooth as silk!
Really, no cons on this OS. Printer setup was a breeze, no hardware issues.
I highly recommend BigLinux for someone who prefers KDE Plasma!!!
I decided to search out the distro with the HIGHEST RATING, rather than the most popular. Well, BigLinux is it! I figured it would be bloated, what with the name and all, so I chose the Minimal Version and installed my own goodies, because I just love YAY, how it tells me ALL available programs that have anything to do with my search (unlike Debian/Ubuntu) by default. Then I figured Biggy would crap out a lot, because, well, it's got ALL the bells and whistles, many of which I have never seen before. The largest selection of very high resolution wallpaper EVER. Automatically installs DEBIAN programs with no fuss, even though it's Arch based. Many realy cool screen effects, all right out of the box. I have been VERY pleasantly surprised that Biggy is just as stable, if not moreso, than any other distro I have used, including MX, Mint, Endeavor, Tuxedo, Q4os.... anything.
So I installed it on a whim to see why it has such a high rating, and just never looked back. I still dual boot with MX, but have never used MX since getting the prettier and much more modern looking Biggy. It does use BTRFS, and it's rolling, so, like other reviewers, I worry about updates. So yesterday I decided I better get TimeShift installed. Come to find out it's already installed and has been running perfectly since I first started with Biggy 3 months ago!
I have used 75 different distros. I am staying with BigLinux!
The distro is very beautiful, easy for beginners and ideal for the Brazilian public.
However, the thing I value most in a distribution is stability, which in the case of this distro is not the best.
Once, after I had installed everything and everything was working, a forced update of the distro came. After that, it broke and nothing else I did worked. Since I had not backed up the system, I had to format the distro and, because I was disappointed (there should be an application installed since the installation to solve problems like this), the result was obvious: I abandoned it and never went back.
However, it is undeniably an interesting distribution to test, because it is much better than Manjaro.
In the end, my experience was reasonable.
F*****g blazingly fast OS who just works, JUST. AAAAAND yes I use Plasma 6 (Wayland) with NVIDIA 1080 GTX driver version Nvidia570, using Kvantum theme with blur. And one word without to much explaining: WORK JUST JUST. Very much much vast minority distros are working like this for me, and yes there is not inkluding Debian and Ubuntu based distros, maybe PikaOS like Debian based distro is working like BigLinux but I think Big is winner against PikaOS. Yes gaming is my thing, and if gaming is working than you can say that distro is in place, coz gaming is very very demandingness and resource hungry. And again, very much much vast minority distros are working like this.
Sabayon was the last distro that made me feel in love with a Linux distribution, (2008) I liked its beautiful appearance, its modern look, its ease of use, was a bleeding edge distro.Unfortunately the project deteriorated and died and I was using only Linux Mint since then, I watch 2 reviews on Youtube of BigLinux and I loved its graphical appearance, its relatively low resource consumption, the great amount of beautiful wallpapers it comes with, the large amount of software ready to install that includes native repositories, AUR repositories, flatpak and Snap (optional) I love the design of its software store, I am absolutely sure that all the existing software for Linux is in its software stores (Pacman and BigStore), I love the design and functionality of its control center, that it has web applications ready to use, you can easily add more, it already has the Libreoffice office suite installed, a PDF reader, an application installed to reduce microphone noise. It comes with Lutris and Steam already installed and it is very easy to install Bottles, Winetricks, Proton, GoG, Heroic Games Launcher, that is; everything necessary for gamers, the games run very well both those native to Linux and those from Windows known to work on Linux, the fact that you can convert videos and images to another format with just a right click, you can check md5sum, sha256sum etc with just 2 clicks automatically, it's based on manjaro and being a rolling release you have the latest software in your hands, it has support for Nvidia, Intel and of course AMD graphic cards, it's incredible that this distro is not better known, it should be one of the first on distrowatch, you can see the great work and love of the BigLinux team, I recommend that you try this distribution in live mode, there are 3 download options depending on whether it is old, relatively recent or latest generation hardware, I assure you that you will install it and you will not regret it, congratulations to the great BigLinux team for such a magnificent work...
Pros: Everything I mencioned.
Cons: Nothing yet...
This might very well be one of the best distros I have ever used-- and NO ONE knows about it. It's crazy how smooth and easy this distro is, it's the first distro where I was genuinely impressed by how much just worked. Even when you compare this distro to other distros that are expected to work out of the box, this one does that all and even more. Most distros have cons that are a bit annoying, or graphical glitches occasionally that are distracting, or random situations you might find yourself in where something doesn't look right or isn't performing how you would've hoped. I can say I have yet to have anything negative happen here, and this kind of smooth experience I have never had before in a distro. I am super super impressed. I think the only thing that slightly concerned me is the slight language barriers to navigating the website, or when talking to support/asking for help, since there is a lot of google translating, but other than that I don't think I can find anything wrong with this one. Wow
you won't believe how smooth and under-rated this this is
At the moment i think is bthe best distro around for my hardware, i used every popular distro but none is even close to this, and funny part, i discovered this distro watching a video, i wasn't even aware this existed
Pro:- all hardware get immediately recognized
- smooth and plished
- top look ( that is never bad)
- smooth gaming experience
- Top wallpapers
Cons
- nothing for now
I reccomend this to everyone that want a distro that just works
Arch based, rolling distro
Eye candy
Straight forward install
Intuitive all around distro, useful for most beginners through advanced users.
Well organized
Integrates well with online services
Many desktop environments to choose from
Dedicated, enthusiastic userbase, community
Available in many different languages
Con:
Config app reverts to Portugese in places
A few awkward phrasings in English and typos
Um empreendimento definitivamente de classe mundial, parabéns, Equipe BiG Linux!
A definitely world-class undertaking, congratulations, BiG Linux Team!
I run biglinux_2024-11-01_k66 it's not listed the one listed you have to run echo 'blacklist ntfs3' | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/disable-ntfs3.conf to look at ntfs drives . this one works right.the wine install works no screen flashing on games like the latest Debian systems .the only problem i have is running Nomachine as server sound not working as enterprise-client work great seams as fast as MX mint or peppermint. network the easiest to set up and share files manjaro can be a pain the latest one anyway I used Debian type 11 . Debian 12 when problems started with wine install SO Big linux is my go to now still use mint 5 lmde on server for nomachine sound
I really liked this Linux distribution. It recognized all my hardware right away, including accessories like a wireless mouse. The interface is very nice, and I loved the wallpapers! I found it very easy to use (I'm biased because I've been using Linux since 1994). I just didn't like the fact that BigLinux's visual package manager only allows you to install one package at a time, so I end up going to the terminal and installing it from there.
I was able to install Debian packages without any problems, I ran Steam games (which comes pre-installed), and I ran several programming IDEs, and I had no disappointments. I recommend it to everyone. It proved to be more stable than Arch and Manjaro for me.
The best linux distribution in the world, I'm sure of that. Design is perfect, program selection is perfect, operation is perfect, usability is perfect. It's stable, no problems with it. I recommend it to everyone regardless of age and gender, it provides a very good user experience. The wallpapers deserve ten points separately, they're just fantastic, they always make me feel good. The hardware recognition is great, with an i3 processor and 4 giga ram it goes very well on a notebook. I think I'll stop at this distribution, I won't look any further. I found the real one. :-)
I have used a variety of different operating systems over the years. My wife finally got so tired of windows that she agreed to try Linux.
I tired Linux Mint but the latest Gnome restrictions that came out not too long ago (desktop 46 I think) caused a lot of complaints because her cursor and font changed as she used different applications. Since Gnome was a no go, on the recommendation of a long time Linux user I decided to go ahead and try Big Linux.
My wife is now very happy. Her settings stay the way she likes them and she can do her photo editing, word processing, net surfing and gaming. the KDEPlasma desktop was a little intimidating for her, because of the amount of customization allowed. but, once I showed her some basic setting and she had time to get used to it, the desktop has become another real selling point.
My wife likes it so much she had me revive my Brother-in-Laws windows 8 laptop and an HP all in one running windows 7 her got for $5 at the good will.
I was afraid the systems might now see much performance improvement with Big Linux due to the KDE desktop along with all the preinstalled software. But both machines run well and my Brother-in-Law is very happy with Linux. I was surprised that Sub Nautica ran well on the laptop, considering the laptop is just running graphics in a shared RAM environment. Granted the game is not as detailed as a proper setup would run it, but he is happy with it. I fact he let my nephews have the old all-in-on to test out their code and games they are writing for school. The environment is resilient enough we the nephews manage to crash it, the system comes right back.
The distro also plays well with the iphone and android phones that the family uses, without jumping thorough a lot of hoops.
To sum it up was able to convert two "only ever used windows" people into Linux users.
Very good distro. I've been using Linux for over 20 years,
Kurumin, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Mint, MX, Arch, Manjaro, and others. Without a doubt, BigLinux is the best of all, beautiful look, arch and aur repository, with the stability of Manjaro.

A based Manjaro best than Manjaro.
Totally friendly user. Light use of memory too even with the KDE Plasma Desktop
Beautiful Desktop enviroment and personalised Control Center optimezed.
Besides this in Big Linux we have Webapps and Webapps installer... a easy way to use some web applications, some pré-instaled like Google apps, other like Netflix, Facebook, Waze, Instagram,Telegram, Amazon, Office 365 and Whatsapp...
Thanks Bruno Gonçalves
I've been using Linux for 13 years. I've used Debian, Arch, Ubuntu, Manjaro and others distros and I've been using BigLinux for almost seven months now and I'm loving the experience. Everything is out-of-the-box and it's smooth. What I like most is that BigLinux has a very active and acessible community. Regarding the desktop environment, they have a personalized KDE with a lot of improvements for the End User, beatiful wallpapers and easy system configurations. You can use BigLinux for multiple multiple purposes, like gaming, development, broswing the web, studies. I'm using for studies.
I have an old Gateway SX2185 It is SLOW.
It came with Windows pre-installed and was usable for the first year or two, but then it basically became a paperweight.
For fun I added some inexpensive RAM and swapped the HDD with an SSD and started tinkering with various Linux distros.
I have tried Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Mint, MX-Linux, Puppy, Zorin, Linux Lite, Bodhi, Chrome OS Flex, etc.
Although Flex worked well, I hated that I had a useless DVD drive.
Lubuntu always worked well, but it just wasn't doing it for me.
I came across BigLinux in my Google Feed on my phone.
The liveCD was actually really good!
I installed it and this PC is like new... actually better than new as Windows was never very usable on it!
Once my wife's Dell Inspiron is grandfathered out of Windows 10 (7th Gen Intel Processor) I'm dumping Windows and installing BigLinux. I'd do it now, only she doesn't like change (shrug).
An excelent distro, it has everything! is ready to work, with the best selection of apps, web applications, a lot of wallpapers, it has almost everything ready to play games, is ready to run android apps too, from the begining you can choose six or seventh desktop configurations, a responsive; blasting fast system, a really beautiful distro made with love and a lot of work and passion, a breath of fresh air in Linux world, you will see the big diference, give it a try and you won't be dissapointed!
I've used Linux Mint for years. I've had problems with it and saw a website showing how shocked they were that more people weren't looking into Big Linux so I decided to try it. Well I'm blown away. Not only does Big Linux play games from Windows 10 but my Audacious for music, Pysol for all my solitaire games and ALL of my Firefox and it's add-ons work without a hitch. For years I did my best to get Windows games to run in Linux Mint to no avail. Big Linux did this right out of the box with WINE installed. I'm stunned.
Big Linux also loads FASTER and exits within a second off of my Dell Precision T5600 running 3.1GHz dual processors. It does EXACTLY what I want it to do; load quick so I can use it and shut down NOW. Linux Mint didn't come close to either.
I will also admit Big Linux plays music so much better than Linux Mint ever did. I had to configure Audacious in Linux Mint over and over again but not in Big Linux. It was so PERFECT once it was installed and I never touched any settings except to turn up the volume. I must admit I never expected this whatsoever. I've tried different distros and fell in love with Linux Mint but Big Linux has literally changed my entire outlook at Linux in a nutshell.
Everything about Big Linux is FUN. The only problem I have is that Audacious refuses to open entire folders from the main program so you literally have to load it by hand through the menu. This is okay but defeats the purpose of using Audacious as it was intended. With Linux Mint this was not the case.
If you value gaming from Windows 10 Big Linux is the way to go with WINE and Lutris. Linux Mint NEVER allowed me to game via Windows 10 games, just Windows 7. That is strange. With Big Linux I have no real issues with solo gaming via WINE but when it comes to online gaming such as Lethal Company it doesn't like to run well at all. it is confusing. I tried it with Linux Mint and no go.
I must admit Big Linux is a blast. I'm from the USA and find this distro a breath of fresh air. It's just so well designed I can't figure out how they pulled it off; it loads like lightning and shuts down in a moment. Bravo Big Linux, WELL DONE!!!
It's no longer working properly (*) after latest upgrade.
(*)
Italian keyboard localization non longer works (it was working before the upgrade).
Same goes for the Big Store, which doesn't open anymore.
PysolFC (card game) doesn't run either.
More to be discovered by using it.
bashrc is never launched automatically. NEVER. I must ALWAYS run it manually.
Very often (depending on the upgrade version of Big Linux) VFAT or FAT32 or NTFS pendrives aren't accessible at all.
In conclusion, after beig a grat fan of it for a while, I would no longer recommend this distro, since it's too unstable.
Biglinux is an incredible system, it comes with everything I need for my work, I've tested many distros, but this was the most complete of all
With an intuitive and friendly interface, BigLinux provides a fluid and efficient user experience. Its variety of pre-installed applications meet productivity needs, from office tools to image and video editing programs. Furthermore, the system stability is remarkable, providing a reliable working environment for my daily activities.
Community support is also worth highlighting. The BigLinux community is active and responsive, ready to help if you have any questions or problems. This creates a collaborative environment that contributes to the constant improvement of the system.
Another positive point is the ease of customization. BigLinux allows me to adapt the desktop according to my preferences, whether choosing themes, icons or system settings. This flexibility is essential to making the system truly mine, reflecting my personality and work style.
Furthermore, constantly updating the system and adding new features keeps BigLinux at the forefront of innovation. The development team is always aware of technological trends, ensuring that users have access to the latest features and performance improvements.
In summary, BigLinux not only meets but exceeds my expectations as a complete and efficient operating system. Whether for work or play, this distro stands out as a solid choice, offering stability, community support, and customization, all in a robust, user-friendly package. I am truly satisfied with my choice and will continue to recommend it to other Linux enthusiasts.
BigLinux is a ready-made distro for beginners or advanced users. Beginners don't need to use terminal, BigLinux comes with the user-friendly interface out of the box. Advanced users will find "under the hood" optimizations that they would otherwise do but are already there.
- Theme options available in the control center for those who don't want to configure KDE Plasma a lot
- System restore with snapshots using the btrfs file system, easy and fast
- Lightweight and fast system with optimizations that come ready for weaker computers (in addition to my main PC with 32GB of RAM, I installed it on a dualcore with 4GB and it works surprisingly well).
- Microphone noise reduction
- Right click to resize and convert images and videos
- Extract text from PDF with OCR easily
- Several ready-made webapps in the menu and easy configuration to create your own
- Flatpaks and Snaps are not enabled by default, but are ready to go with 1 click
I've always used beginner-friendly .deb distros, but I had no problem using this Manjaro derivative... after watching some review videos and realizing that BigLinux is easy.
Sou usuário do Big Linux desde suas primeiras versões. O sistema simplesmente funciona. Atenção aos detalhes, com o botão direito do mouse sobre um arquivo no gestor de arquivos, você pode fazer um monte de coisa, como, converter formatos ou extrair OCR.
O Big Linux é rolling release, então é só instalar e ser feliz.
[US]
I have been a Big Linux user since its first versions. The system simply works. Attention to details, with the right mouse button on a file in the file manager, you can do a lot of things, like, convert formats or extract OCR.
Big Linux is a rolling release, so just install it and be happy.
It is a Linux distribution that offers features that I consider
essential, such as file conversion (audio, video and others). Everything is at
reach of your hands, making it a highly productive option, in addition to
presenting an attractive and functional design. A Linux distribution must be
intuitive, and the BigLinux meets this criteria masterfully.
I was impressed with BigLinux's performance. Even using a
modest computer, the distribution runs smoothly. The app store
opens quickly, just like browsers and the LibreOffice office suite,
which also start up quickly.
Furthermore, there are several useful applications for my daily work life.
Even though I'm an intermediate user, I can get by on Linux well, and the
Available documentation is quite helpful.
BigLinux's default environment is simply fantastic, being the best I've ever
seen I found.
[pt_BR]
Embora seja um usuário intermediário, consigo me virar bem no Linux, e a
documentação disponível é bastante útil.
O ambiente padrão do BigLinux é simplesmente fantástico, sendo o melhor que já
encontrei.
The BigLinux distro is extremely versatile, well finished and super performant. Great for daily use and programming, everything I expect from a system. Congratulations to the developers.
Your strengths:
- Optimization of the KDE interface, with several applications for configuring layouts and display modes;
- Modern app store with native support for Flatpack and Snap files;
- Manjaro Rolling Release base with constant and secure updates;
- BTRFS file system with native Timeshift integration for backups and restores.
I have been a user of Linux Distributions for some time now. Of the last distros that I currently used (Ubuntu, Fedora and openSUSE), I can say with certainty that the BigLinux distro exceeded my expectations. I'm using the beta version with GNOME Shell, and I'm impressed with the customization applied to the distro (Being the most beautiful and lightest GNOME Shell that I've been able to try so far), with a set of features and optimizations present in the distro that I haven't seen in any other , placing BigLinux as an excellent gateway to the Linux world, both for work and games.
[PT-BR]
Excellent distribution, very complete and user-friendly, in addition to having many possibilities for customization and package compatibility. Not to mention the neatness of the themes, wallpapers and icons. A system that is both robust, stable and customizable. I think Big Linux deserves to be more prominent alongside other modern distributions like Zorin and Pop! OS, for example.
[PT-BR]
BigLinux stands out as a comprehensive and user-friendly Linux distribution, seamlessly blending stability with innovation. Its visually appealing interface, diverse array of applications, and solid support infrastructure underscore a dedicated commitment to user experience. Whether you prioritize simplicity or functionality, BigLinux proves to be an inspiring choice, offering a harmonious balance that caters to both novice and experienced users in the Linux ecosystem.

BigLinux is, without a shadow of a doubt, an excellent distro. Not only because it is BR, but also because of the entire set of tools delivered to users, in the end what every Desktop needs is to be simple and functional, even if it has a powerful terminal. What matters in the end is the experience, and BigLinux delivers that with excellence!!!
Both your application store and your control center have tools integrated into the KDE Plasma panel, which certainly makes life a lot easier for any novice user. There are many facilities spread across the face of the end user. Please consider this Brazilian distribution, and test it, at least, you can give feedback with suggestions and support the dissemination of the system.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the talented team behind BigLinux. This operating system not only met but exceeded all my expectations. From the very moment I installed it, the sense of lightness and efficiency was remarkable. Every interaction with BigLinux is like a well-orchestrated symphony, where speed and efficiency blend harmoniously.
Throughout my journey with BigLinux, I've noticed how everyday tasks became smoother and faster. The intuitive interface and agile performance made my time on the computer more productive and, at the same time, more enjoyable. The BigLinux team didn't just create an operating system; they brought to life an exceptional digital experience.
Every update of BigLinux feels like a technological gift that continues to surprise. The team's dedication to keeping the system lightweight, fast, and efficient doesn't go unnoticed. This is a heartfelt thank you for providing not just an operating system but a tool that genuinely enhances the quality of the digital life. Thank you, BigLinux team, for making a difference!
In my opinion this is one of the best linux distros. This distribution has only sensible programs pre-installed. The desktops (6 available to choose from) are nicely designed. The system works well, although it is not the lightest distribution, but it has everything needed for gaming, browsing the Internet and many other such activities. Overall, I recommend it. least test this distribution. It is a distribution based on Manjaro. The AUR is immediately available. The graphical configuration tools are well made. In my opinion, it is a good distribution for beginner Linux users.

I can't go crazy writing some large review, because I am not that techy...here is what I will say. My workflow is minimal with what I need my pc to do for me. My pc is my stereo...so yes, I have a large digital music collection. My pc is a newer Alienware Machine...has lots of juice...great for gaming and other interests. I have an older system I am calling my Test PC...no particular name brand...just a pc. Both systems are running 3.0+ ghz cpu's, 32 gig of ram, video cards 8 to 12 gig of video memory. My Alien has an nvidia rtx 3060 12 gig video card, my test pc has an amd 8 gig video card.
I have been tinking off and on with Linux since the late 90's...it has only been in the last 5 years that I have been
more serious. I really want to get rid of my windows machine and it's damn tracking telemetry of everything I do on
it...and move to Linux. But you see, I have this gaming thing I like to do, and Linux doesn't yet seem to be a viable
OS for that part of my life...UNTIL...I found BigLinux. I wiped my test pc, installed a sata ssd hhd into the box and
and installed BigLinux OS on the machine. I obviously check the OS over before installing Steam...then I jumped
in the deep end. I installed Fallout 4, played it for a couple of days...very minimal tweaking...working out of the box.
Then I installed Outerworlds...it worked right out of the box...very minimal tweaking...minimal video tearing. Then I
installed Shadow of Mordor...same as the last two. Then the game I was not sure about...Red Dead Redemption 2!!
Very minimal tweaking, and to set the resolution size...and the damn game is working right out of the box. These
four games have been on my test pc for almost 8 weeks now, and that is with OS updates as well. I am a happy
camper...probably by late spring I will be installing BigLinux OS on my Alien and lets just say...not looking back.
Big Linux OS...has been a treat...I hope you have the same experiece. This OS definitely brings hope...that as a
daily driver, I can do the same things I have been doing with Windows 11...with very minimal issues.
I am going to speed up time, and copy paste the pros and cons I agree with from another user...here it is:
Pros: Everything just works, no weird update problems or crashes. Really beautiful animations and packed with nice wallpapers. The workflow is running smooth. BigLinux comes "Out of the box" with the right programs for me who only need a computer for daily tasks.
Cons: Like I said up a ways, the only problem I have is some minimal video tearing...and it is so minimal that it doesn't take anything away from the gaming experience.
My 10/10 is basically for the overall experience of the OS...and that I am able to game!!
Recently, I stumbled upon a hidden gem in the world of Linux distributions - BigLinux. This Brazilian-based Manjaro derivative has completely blown me away with its spectacular performance and user-friendly interface. Everything from installation to daily use has been fluid and seamless, a testament to the thoughtful design and development of this distro.
What impresses me most about BigLinux is how everything just works right out of the box. There's no need to spend hours tweaking settings or hunting down drivers - it's all taken care of. This has made my transition to BigLinux incredibly smooth and hassle-free.
My son, who is also a budding tech enthusiast, has taken a liking to BigLinux as well. He finds the interface intuitive and engaging, which is a great way to introduce young minds to the world of open-source software. It's heartening to see his interest in technology grow through his interactions with BigLinux.
The decision to make BigLinux my main operating system was an easy one. After experiencing its superior performance and ease of use, it's hard to imagine going back to anything else. But it's not just about the technical aspects - BigLinux also has a vibrant, welcoming community. The forums are a treasure trove of information and support, making it easy for newcomers like me to find help and advice.
In conclusion, discovering BigLinux has been a revelation. It's a spectacular Linux distro that combines power, simplicity, and a supportive community. If you're looking for a new OS to try out, I highly recommend giving BigLinux a spin. It's a decision you won't regret.
I have 4 machines, 3 on Linux, 1 on Windows (for my job)
I have MX Linux on my most used PC & Mint on my bedroom PC, the bedroom PC is mostly for watching videos. Just heard of BigLinux today; saw a post about on Reddit & I must say I'm very impressed so far. It works very fast, looks great, and I highly suggest more Linux fans take a look.....this one is a distro-hopping stopper. I went with the Modern Look version and don't plan on changing that. People with mostly Windows & Mac will easily adjust to this distro.
I've used many operating systems and within Linux, many distros and BigLinux destroys them all so far. I'm hesitant to give anything 10. If it keeps improving and nothing breaks, this is my final stop in distro-hopping.
Positives:
- very fast
- easy to use
- attractive but not cluttered
- logical layout
- excellent support and guides
- everything works right out of the box
- backlight on my no-name usb keyboard just works! (trust me, that's massive)
- flexible
- great community for newbs, midline and experts
- just as easy to use in terminal as gui interfaces for everything (so far)
This is my first review ever but I BigLinux truly deserves it.
I strongly recommend BigLinux for everyone whether they've ever used/like Manjaro or even Arch before.
Try BigLinux and maybe you get the same "WOW" feeling like I got.
First of all this is a really beatiful distro and to top it of I haven´t encountered any problems with software or hardware in a couple of weeks since installation.
I used to be a distrohopper on all my computers but now I have stopped hopping on my main computer and settled with
BigLinux because I don´t think my linux experience can get more perfect. Feels like coming home after a long journey.
Pros: Everything just work, no weird update problems or crashes. Really beatiful animations and packed with nice wallpapers.
The workflow is running smooth. BigLinux comes "Out of the box" with the right programs for me who only need a computer for daily tasks.
Cons: Have not encountered any yet but will instead of changing distro if problems occur I will patiently try to find a solution or wait for one because BigLinux is worth it.
Incredible system, I've been using it for a week and I'm not a fan of KDE, nor of Manjaro which is the distro on which it is based, I prefer gnome and PopOS was my default OS. But I have to admit that they managed to win me over. The attention to detail is commendable. You can see in each window, each icon... The versatility is also a show in itself, the easy customization, the choice of wallpapers, the ease of adding Snap and Flatpak repositories, the organization of the store which is simple but very functional with initial details describing the applications, the installed applications are also very useful and it already comes with shortcuts to online apps like those from Google for those who need it. Another thing that pleased me was the support for hybrid video cards and the removal of the request to create a master password, which is standard in KDE Plasma and irritated me a lot, it was the first KDE distro that I used that didn't keep charging me to create this password.
I hope this small review helps those who have a certain "prejudice" towards KDE to test the distro and perhaps be surprised like me.
Pretty good and unique distro. Reminds me of Mint, but has even more features out of the box. Really useful. Comes with NVIDIA, has multimedia support. Access to AUR. What's not to like? It's more useful than Ubuntu out of the box. KDE is great.
If you want something that is just plug and play like Mint, this is a very worthy alternative. It has so many wallpapers that come with it too. Have it installed on my gaming laptop - no issues. Definetely give it a try.
Timeshift is also included too. And you can get all your browsers etc.
I used ChatGPT to translate this text from portuguese.
I use BigLinux on both my work and personal computers. I also installed it on my younger sister's computer, who was experiencing issues with Windows' slowness due to her less powerful hardware.
BigLinux is extremely optimized and well pre-configured for novice users. My younger sister was able to use it effortlessly without me having to provide detailed instructions. Essentially, she built on her previous experience with Windows and managed to use it for online browsing and system updates. It's quite straightforward usage, but I found it interesting to mention.
For me, as a professional programmer, BigLinux comes with excellent terminal settings. The fact that it uses Btrfs technology greatly simplifies computer maintenance. Creating recovery points before updates, when managed in the excellent package management application, Big Store, is a real lifesaver and has saved me from headaches.
But perhaps the best part of BigLinux is its vibrant community, people who love to share knowledge, learn from each other; it's truly magical. You can be sure that you won't be alone when facing any system-related issues, whether it's hardware compatibility, certain configurations, or anything else—the community will be there to help you.
The Big team is highly active and continually gifts the community with excellent improvements, like compatibility for hardware with hybrid video cards or a system that allows controlling the computer solely with your eyes and a webcam.
It's challenging to find negatives when you're in a state of grace about something, so I won't say they don't exist, but I currently don't notice them. It could be due to merit or my passion for the project; time will tell. I've been using the system for about six months.
I was using Linux Mint XFCE as my first distro. Then I decided to try Big Linux due to its nice appearance, and I was really impressed. When my Linux Mint XFCE was starting, it used to consume more than 1GB, even though it was a very basic OS. In contrast, Big Linux, with its great appearance, starts using only 0.8 GB and offers many more features compared to Mint.
I think its animation is a bit tiring, however I know that it's possible to change that.
BigLinux is more than an operating system; it's a transcendent computing experience. With rock-solid stability, it's a beacon of reliability in a tumultuous digital world. The flexibility and customization it offers are like a blank canvas, waiting to become the digital masterpiece of your dreams. Its vast software ecosystem is an endless source of possibilities, where you'll find the perfect tools for any task.
But BigLinux is more than just bits and bytes; it's a vibrant community, a family of enthusiasts who support each other on the technological journey. Every detail of this system has been lovingly crafted with passion, resulting in an unmatched user experience. If you haven't yet experienced BigLinux, you're missing out on a revolution in how we view computing. So, join us on this digital adventure and discover why BigLinux is truly sensational.

BigLinux has a large and active community of users and developers who provide support, share knowledge, and contribute to the improvement of the operating system. You can find online forums, documentation, and resources to help you with any issues or questions you may have
BigLinux is compatible with a wide range of hardware, including older or less common devices. It also supports a variety of file systems, making it easier to work with different storage devices.
It's 8/10 for me, because:
Positive:
* It's a Manjaro based distro, wich means a stable rolling release model.
* They always update their ISO's: one comes with an older kernel (suitable for older PC's), one with an LTS kernel (the recommended version, for the most cases) and another with a newer kernel (for newer PC's).
* It's easy to install and use (you don't need to use the command line, if you don't want it).
Negative:
* It only offers Plasma desktop, no choice. It could offer at least one more DE.
* I think it's a little bloated, maybe it's a good ideia to have a minimal version download option, like Manjaro does.
Conclusion: It has a lot of potential!
Excellent distribution, simple in everything even in the installation and based on Manjaro which make it very recent with updates of the various software, it would only be useful if they did not put too many pre-installed software but leave what the user wants. Very suitable for beginners but also for experts. Aesthetically it is beautiful, nothing to say the control center is well done, the only sore point that is not perfectly translated into Italian but also into English. I believe that once known it will become an excellent Manjaro alternative
I don't usually write negatively on Distrowatch. Almost all of my reviews exceed 8. But this distro has left me completely stunned. It is the only distro that has not detected my ethernet card of a lenovo ideacentre 5. Even distractions like BSD or Void detect it without problems. The same with bluetooth, with wifi.
I don't agree with them calling it Arch's Linux Mint. The installation is very confusing, Manjaro is much easier to install and the detection of the hardware is automatic, also the installation of the drivers. It's the second time I've installed BigLinux on real hardware, on two different PCs, and the second time I've received almost nothing from the hardware.
Flatpak didn't work well: Google Chrome gave me problems. It's the only time I've used Linux for many years that a flatpak application gives me problems.
I think the aesthetic aspect is taken care of, that's why I qualify with a 2 and not with a 0.
Excellent distro, because it is ready at the installation so you don't need to give your look to the distro. This distro works and has a good performance on my computer!
Grande Linux is the best distro of all time, as it caters to both beginners and advanced users. I tested several ISOs with a computer with 2GB of RAM and Intel Athon processor, the only one that ran satisfactorily was BIG. I gave life to a stationary switch. BIG revived the love for Linux and free software.
I am truly grateful to have encountered BigLinux and to have it as my go-to operating system.

This distro is ahead of its time, it has a lot of resources and facilitators, some very old that come from Kurumin Linuz forgotten by the community and others extremely advanced and makes BIG a rocket and an unbreakable system.
Great distro. Easy system, with good support and superior quality to many in the world. recommended for those who want to start in the linux world and also for advanced users. I recommend it to anyone interested in getting into linux
The brilliance of BigLinux lies not only in its impressive functionality but also in the remarkable passion and dedication poured into its development. The entire team behind BigLinux deserves the highest praise for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment. It is evident that they have poured their hearts and souls into creating a system that exceeds expectations and caters to the diverse needs of users.
From the moment I first laid my hands on BigLinux, it was abundantly clear that it was meticulously crafted with love and attention to detail. The user-friendly interface provides a seamless and intuitive experience, making even the most complex tasks feel effortless. Its stability is unmatched, ensuring a smooth and reliable performance that never fails to impress.
I am truly grateful to have encountered BigLinux and to have it as my go-to operating system. It has surpassed all my expectations and has become an indispensable part of my daily life. I wholeheartedly recommend BigLinux to anyone seeking a phenomenal computing experience. Kudos to the entire BigLinux team for their outstanding work and for creating a truly extraordinary distribution.
Excellent distro, not a "Personal distro" because it is ready at the installation so you don't need to give your look to the distro. This distro works and has a good performance on my computer!
Is not a distro to anyone who looks for adventure and things like Arch, Geento, etc. It's more of a Linux Mint approach install and uses a lot of UI to help you to make what you need with the distro. For example, they have the KDE control panel in another UI that for me is easiest and more understandable than the original KDE one.
In a nutshell, BigLinux is the "Linux Mint" of the Arch Linux family and the best Brazilian Linux distro. But let's go to some pros and cons:
* Pros:
Easy to install and use
Stable rolling release (Manjaro based)
No need to use command line if you don't want to (BigStore app store is very good).
Good detection and installation of drivers (free and proprietary)
* Cons:
It only offers KDE plasma as a desktop environment, although you can choose from 6 different layouts. They could offer at least one more desktop environment for users who don't like plasma.
I really enjoy how beautiful Big is out of the gate. I also enjoy the fact that it's stable and solid. I can see this being my main distro. I am absolutely thrilled to express my utmost satisfaction in discovering and installing BigLinux. Ever since I made the switch, it has become an undeniable fact that no other distribution can compare when it comes to fulfilling my daily computing needs. BigLinux, an extraordinary Brazilian creation, deserves to be celebrated for its exceptional ease of use and unwavering stability. It has truly transformed my computing experience, and I cannot imagine going back to any other operating system.

I really enjoy how beautiful Big is out of the gate. I also enjoy the fact that it's stable and solid. I can see this being my main distro. Currently running the 06-07-2023 release. The only things I ran into that are show stoppers is the fact that you don't get to set your user password as the root password or create a root password during the install. That they created their own version of RootActions which is truly worthless which one must replace through Pamac cause trying to add it through Dolphin Dolphin ask for the root password which the devs either created themselves and are not sharing or never added one. The fact that when one calls this to their attention that they never tell the user the root password tells me that they not only blocked the user from creating a root password but didn't set one themselves.
Completely surprised and very pleased. First, it was an easy installation. The best part it does a good just explaining the different repositories and provides a list of popular packages to install. I really appreciated the various layouts - this is something that Manjaro proper has done with their GNOME version but BigLinux has done the same using KDE - marvelous!
I have always been a Manjaro GNOME fan but started to get worried about some issues Manjaro was having about 1-2 years ago and migrated back to Mint Cinnamon, Zorin, Pop!_OS, and Tuxedo OS. I think some of the problems Manjaro was having were overblown and it is still a solid distribution. BigLinux just makes some minor things easier and provides some good default layouts. Unlike other distributions whereby you spend a little bit of time to considerable time tweaking and adjusting things, I have not done that with BigLinux. I am really happy with it and contemplating removing some of the other distributions I am using - but not Mint which to me is the most reliable and flexible OS.
Biggest pros for BigLinux are ease of installation, the layouts option, the pamac GUI package manager, the additional curated list of programs, and the nature of it being a rolling release.
The one negative is Manjaro’s self induced delay on some packages which might cause a problem if you also use packages from the AUR whereby dependencies are not delayed creating the potential for a break in the OS. I am exploring the idea of switching to the Testing Branch repositories to avoid that 2-week testing delay that Manjaro does in order prevent potential breaks due to mismatch problems with dependencies in the AUR. But, I only use one package from the AUR so it may be a moot issue.
I am glad I stumbled upon BigLinux. Fast, rolling, and seems stable/solid. 👍🙂
BigLinux is a fantastic distribution. It's hard to think of better ones. It is very affordable and elegantly well built. The fact that it is based on Manjaro/ArchLinux makes it even more interesting, because as it is rolling-release, no one needs to finish annual or semi-annual updates. Anyone, even without any programming knowledge, can use it easily. The list of pre-installed apps makes the distro very user-friendly. The distro's motto is "striving for perfection". Its developers seem to struggle to achieve this goal.

I’ve been using Linux distros off and on since 2009, mostly Ubuntu based or Debian based. Have also used Mandriva, PCLinuxOS, OpenSuse and a few others. Recently my iMac from late 2015 lost support for newer versions of MacOS so I decided I would get an external SSD and install Linux to avoid the slow internal HDD of the iMac. So the search began for my next distro.
I was going to just install Mint like I usually do, but then got caught up between Mint and LMDE and couldn’t decide. Then I came across a YouTube video about BigLinux and was hooked. The appearance, ease of use, vast software available, and the awesome different desktops available in seconds with just a couple clicks of a mouse.
I’ve now been using for days and love it. It’s fast, works well, and is easy to navigate and manage. One minor issue solved via command line (key ring issue) and everything else is perfect. Detected all my Mac hardware, including the webcam, and didn’t have to figure out any workarounds for my hardware. Printer setup automatically, sound worked, Broadcom wifi worked out of the box. Can’t ask for more.
This is a mostly unknown distro, but I’m so glad I stumbled across it. Simple install and the rest is easy.
I had a decade-old desktop that had Windows 7. I got the end-of-life message and bought a Windows 8 laptop. Last December I got the end-of-life message for that!. That's when I decided to switch to Linux. I had a little experience with Ubuntu and was not happy to have to use a terminal.
I found BigLinux by going to the DistroWatch Project Ranking and looking for the highest rated product that would work as a home office setup. I loaded it and others onto disks to try out. I tried about eight different disros on disks and BigLinux seemed the best...even better than the Manjaro it was based on.
I installed Big Linux on my desktop with the hope of reviving it and using it as a home office machine. The install went smoothly and gave me a dual-boot option. Printer and peripherals installed with no problem. The installed software was more than enough to communicate with the office and write reports from home. I had one question that was quickly answered on the forum.
The switch from Microsoft to Linux is now simple! I thank the development team for making BigLinux and excellent out-of-the-box experience. BigLinux is fast and does not take up a lot of room. The variety of software gives me more than I need and a lot more to experiment with. Flatpak and AUR give more options. Also, it is a nice-looking distro! I am now starting to do some customizing. I was able to set up hot-corners like Windows and get most everything working similarly.
A few of the office laptops have slowed down and are now staring to get Windows 10 end-of life messages, as well as messages saying they are not good enough to handle Windows 11. The office manager wants to toss them; I will install BigLinux on them and take them back to the office.
I was a Windows user before I switched to Big Linux. My daily activities are disrupted by viruses, slow system performance and hangs.
That's what made me switch to Linux.
I've tried different distros, and to be honest, I'm confused about using them.
Until finally I found Big Linux on YouTube, and I was interested in trying it.
With Big Linux, novice users like me don't have to worry about command line, everything can be done via a graphical interface. WIFI, bluetooth, webcam, dual graphic intel + Nvidia work very well without any problems.
I can even run Windows software very easily.
Android Apps? No problem at all.
And system performance feels very smooth, very fast for a laptop made 10 years ago
Currently, I still dual boot Windows 11 and Big Linux, to learn and get used to Big Linux.
I highly recommend this OS to anyone, especially Windows users who want to switch to Linux.
I have been using Big Linux OS as a primary, go to, Desktop. It works out of the box. Is easy to use, is reliable. I have not found any bugs that interfere with day to day function. Its enjoyable. Has great configuration options. Just a pleasure.
I have used most Linux Distros and always had some issues. Even Linux Ubuntu and mint through up some issues, such as bugs in the printing and scanning with my HP printer; which is supposed to be compatible. Most have been minor issues, which is why I stuck with Linux but after finding Big Linux OS I have been very happy.
Its so responsive. I have never been a fan of Manjaro which this Big Linux is based on. Did not find it intuitive. Big Linux on the other hand is. I believe it is an OS suitable for a beginner or someone experienced. It has something for every one. It deserves a higher profile. The work that has gone into this, shows. It is polished, an example of how a desktop and OS should be. I highly recommend this OS.
Big is great! B-I-G (Boy Its Good) I like that it gives me the latest software and the way it does it! I get plenty of options for the software I want to use. I can count on it when I really need it, period. Over the past decade I have used Ubuntu, Mint and for the past few years MX-21, but I think BIG is better than them all. I Still use MX-21 and Zorin Pro, but I don' think it will be too far in the future before BIG and only BIG will be my one and only.
Im very impressed by this distribution and it was very easy to set up for dual boot solution with windows 11. the Grub OS splash/select screen is very nice looking .....for someone who is trying to switch to a Arch based distros, this is a good starting OS to get your feet wet. very snappish and responsive....not to familiar with AUR packages which has created a little learning curve for me..but I'm adjusting.......it works well with devices such as blue-tooth, printers and external drivers in which it instantly picked them up upon connections. The software store is great able to download flatpacks with no problems which has been the only software packages I like to use on Linux.

It is a distribution that solves many Linux problems with scripts and codes, providing practicality to users. It comes with Btrfs as standard, and integrates the snapshot feature via TimeShift in a practical way, it has performance improvement through adjustments via code related to the Btrfs file system itself, making it much faster.
There is an option called "Restore Settings", if necessary, you can return the default settings of the programs listed in this application, very useful. The developers focus on significant improvements that improve both the processing performance and the size of applications post install.
It is possible to choose which programs are loaded into memory during system startup, which makes opening programs very fast and without increasing boot time. Another interesting tool is the Grub restoration via live-cd, with several advanced options previously listed to guide users who are experiencing difficulties when starting the system.
The consumption of resources brutally improves the performance of the computer, for example, a function that disables the rendering of video that web pages or applications that have been minified, so the video processor focuses only on the application that is being displayed at the moment.
The development team seeks to dedicate itself to presenting an extremely refined system, seeking solutions to meet the public's demands that are presented over time. It has KDE Plamas fully integrated and standardized with all system applications. The Giglinux forum is also
Even though it is a distribution based on Manjaro, based on Arch, the system has the ability to install applications via deb or exe packages in an automated way and natively using Java source code, in addition to Snap, Flatpak or AUR itself automatically through your own app store.
It is also able to install native Android applications through Waydroid with apk. But the highlight is the possibility of choosing which screen/window resolution will open the Android application
BigLinuz has many features, with low performance consumption and focus on automating the system for the user. A system with "big" performance.
I have tried NUMEROUS distros, some are very graphically impressive, but then lacked functionality or infused poor choices for file managers and built-ins. BigLinux was the ONLY distro that enabled the WiFi on my HP Laptop out of the gate with no need to plug in a supported USB WiFi dongle. It also has a great selection of apps and a good repository supporting AUP and FLATPACK.
I highly recommend you check out the latest version of BigLinux. I don't see all the fuss over MX Linux, no shade intended, but BigLinux seems like it offers more to the new -and- seasoned Linux user. Offering different desktop options to the user during setup is also a welcome touch. Not everyone wants their icons docked at the bottom and newcomers don't want to spend frustrating time looking through documentation and forums to figure out how to achieve the needed changes.
It was the best Arch distro I have tried by far, especially for new users. Big-Store is a revelation among program managers, including all native, AUR, I found Big Linux as stable as Mint and as polished and attractive as Fedora. It is also very quick and responsive and very efficient in memory management as is MX Linux.
It is my main driver now, and hopefully I don’t have to go back to Mint. i see big things for big linux in the desktop linux world, so impressed with what these guys are doing, different desktop layouts to choose from much like zorin os, usb tools and so many others just like mx linux, auto dependency checking as with manjaro, and other arch distros, really beautiful, i love it, most innovative, and looks great, i went for the ext4 filesystem, as stated as most compatible, no problems, haven't yet tried btrfs, super distro, reccomend to everyone, no matter what your level of competency,
I just reviewed this distro for Distrohoppers' Digest podcast after using it for 2 months. It was the best Arch distro I have tried by far, especially for new users. Big-Store is a revelation among program managers, including all native, AUR, Snap, and Flatpak versions of anything you would want. I did have a problem after one month of using it on a multi-boot machine, where I got a kernal panic error. I reinstalled and have not had the issue in another month, actually a few days longer than the first installation. I am very impressed with the layout, design, fluidity, and completeness of this distro. For more details, listen to Distrohoppers' Digest Episode 040 (which will be released before 2/15/23). I did have an issue with getting the touchpad to turn off, even after clicking the box to disable the touchpad when a mouse in installed. I do have a mouse installed, and the touchpad is still getting in the way. Perhaps they need to add a Disable Touchpad switch.
I installed the latest stable version of big Linux (5.15.89-1) on 30 January’23, and after working for a week now I give it 10/10. Initially, just after installation I had a bit of problem installing Firefox. I had to disable the AUR and Pacmac and finally installed Firefox through Flatpak option in Big store software manger.
I found Big Linux as stable as Mint and as polished and attractive as Fedora. It is also very quick and responsive and very efficient in memory management as is MX Linux.
It is my main driver now, and hopefully I don’t have to go back to Mint.
Best Linux distro for me. Good tunning in terms of default configuration. It combines performance and a beautiful and flexible design. Excelent!!! BTW, it works very well with Intel + Nvidia hybrid graphics. I also use it in a very simple PC (Pentium with 4GB RAM) and it works very well, specially when I activate the performance gain mode.
I thing the choice of Manjaro as is basis was an excelent choice. Biglinux is very stable and has a wide software repositories (native+AUR+Flatpak+Snaps)
I am amazed how good this linux is.
i almost tried 12-13 linux but no one offered good looks with good performance
opensuse tumbleweed -> good performance but no good looks.
garuda : looks good (bit over cartoonish) but it consumes too much memory.
fedora: same as opensuse.
mx linux: performance is so good but look so ugly can't live with it.
xerolinux: looks so good (best looking distro i have ever tried) but when i started android studio it got hanged.
pop os: fractional scaling is bad it dose not work properly and also pop os is using old gnome.
big linux is just perfect for me.
wow, this is certainly the linux distro of the future, the one to watch, and everything works, based on manjaro, but it is really a combination of the best of all the distros in one very elegant and polished presentation, best that i can see for newcomers as well and i have tried pretty much all the linux desktop distros, but this is something else, i see big things for big linux in the desktop linux world, so impressed with what these guys are doing, different desktop layouts to choose from much like zorin os, usb tools and so many others just like mx linux, auto dependency checking as with manjaro, and other arch distros, really beautiful, i love it, most innovative, and looks great, i went for the ext4 filesystem, as stated as most compatible, no problems, haven't yet tried btrfs, super distro, reccomend to everyone, no matter what your level of competency,
WONDERFUL just in a one word. I am really surprised by this distro and I have finally found the distro for me.
Following the points I appreciate:
- easy to use (guided installation and setup)
- complete and modern desktop
- detailed and cured graphics
- beautiful looking
- wide software repositories (native+AUR+Flatpak)
- nice and complete web site
BigLinux has become my new daily driver.
Congratulation to BigLinux Team,
10/10 (because 10/10+laud is not possible to rate)
TL;DR It is a distribution with many features (and a lot of bloat and minor bugs), the system comes with a control panel and an app store. It's like an improved Manjaro KDE.
The distribution already comes with some very useful programs, AUR available by default and everything has been configured to offer a lot of information and customization options. It's a great distro for anyone who needs to manage and manipulate multiple files. All standard tools like text editor, terminal, settings panel, viewers and file editors are very good. But all these features and options end up causing some bugs.
Most of the bugs I faced were related to the KDE environment and the distribution's own programs, like the app store, but they were easy bugs to fix and the system comes with tools to restore things to default.

Embora seja um usuário intermediário, consigo me virar bem no Linux, e a
documentação disponível é bastante útil.
O ambiente padrão do BigLinux é simplesmente fantástico, sendo o melhor que já
encontrei.
