This is the first exciting distro I've had on a machine in a long time.
It's OpenSuse, but tweaked throughout to optimize the experience and to allow the user to
just use it from one end to the other with only a few cosmetic things to change depending on tastes.
I always had troubles in Suse with fonts and networking and printers, etc. No more; it's all there.
Robust. Very nice looking. FFaaaaaasssstt! ;)

I'd strongly recommend Gecko Linux to anyone who wants an out-of-the-box Linux experience, the callameres installer is very easy to use and ideal for someone who would like to duel boot with Winblows 10, by default everything is handled for you and when you boot up after install you will be greeted by grub and then you can choose to boot Gecko or Win.
The static version of Gecko is something I have never tested until now, its actually pretty damn good, it is very stable and so far very reliable.
I am a fan of OpenSUSE but on older hardware - namely my 2gb RAM slabtop, OpenSUSE likes to hog resources, so Gecko is a better option as it seems to require a lot less RAM.
I hope the dev reads these reviews, please fix/update your rolling release ISO's, due to how old they are updating from a fresh install will break the OS. I'd much rather use a rolling release distro.
Anyway, try Gecko Linux, its very good and very easy to use thanks to YaST2 and its convenience of having everything in one place.

Gecko is the fastest XFCE I've ever used. It's as fast as any LXDE I've ever used, for that matter. Everything is just perfect and flawless. Installing/removing software couldn't be easier with Yast2, which isn't full of bugs like Debian/Ubuntu's Synaptic. The whole system is just smooth as can be. My days of distro-hopping are over.

It's ok... Not great. I installed this OS 2 days ago and have had numerous issues. I installed a Firefox dark theme and half the websites I go to are all blacked out. Don't they TEST this stuff??
I tried changing it and then back to stock and no change on those sites, either. Still blacked out. There are several issues but I am now removing it from my desktop.

So far I rate this equal to Mint. And totally portable.

I'm quite fascinated that I've been able to install the XFCE version onto a tiny old 8gb (usb2) flash drive that I can take with me anywhere and, so far, plug into any computer and immediately operate my entire O/S just as if I were at home.

My opinion.... IMHO -- OPENSUSE is the next or NEW UBUNTU. - Gecko - makes it drop dead simple. Its polished - and I don't have to search far and wide for stuff I want to install. Gecko is sublime.

Of the various releases it is only the static beta that's quite good, There you can, if you want a calendar for example, install at least "orage". "Korganizer" is still not workable, even after the download and installation of a million support files.
Concerning the rolling releases, one has to scratch one's head what the password is (apparentiy "linux"). "Orage" cannot be installed and a notice came up advising me that something sinister is going on when I opened the software installer, something that could compromise my system :(
My experience was : The static (latest) release - yes, the others - no.......

The budgie version attracted me with its look. However, it was incredibly slow compared already with Leap 42.3. the slowest distro out of mote than 15, i tested in same conditions. Also, most of the right mouse button click options are gone.

In my opinion the rolling release of GeckoLinux (based on openSUSE Tumbleweed) is currently the best GNU/Linux operating system available.
Everything just WORKS!
As of this date, the ISO disc is over six months old - but, if you follow the tips I mention, you should have not problems.
Install the system and reboot. Then, before doing anything else, do the following:
1. Allow Vendor Change by Removing Vendor Stickiness (Instructions here: < https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Vendor_change_update > Go to bottom of page). 2. If Broadcom shows a conflict when updating, remove the two (2) Broadcom programs (the ones with the full name in them) by using Install/Update Programs. 3. Remove mesa-dri-nouveau by using Install/Update Programs. 4. Go into the Menu->System->YAST->System->Kernel Settings->Kernel Settings and change Global I/O Scheduler to show Completely Fair Queuing [cfq] and click OK.
Reboot again and only then update the system. (The first update will be large but if you have a fairly fast Internet connection, it should not take too much time).
Once this is all done, you'll have what it, as I said, the best GNU/Linux operating system currently available.

a great alternative if you want a 'barebone' tumbleweed without all the bloodshed required to get a normal tumbleweed 'ready' out of the box, and with minimal patterns/metapackages. it would be nicer if it had a builtin hardware autodetect to avoid installing unnecessary firmware we dont need. a certain unneeded firmware is locked with the linux kernel, although uninstalling through locking is easily done, it would be nice if it did this for us.

Easily my favourite distro. Its OpenSUSE but for someone who wants no fuss on installation.
YaST is a blast. The DE's are just beautiful and work very well on rolling release. Packed with features/programmes.
Have not yet found any issues. Pretty sure Gecko will curb my distrohopping for a long time.
Keep up the greatness, Devs.

Using LXQt is very enjoyable with Gecko, I installed the rolling release and found it to be very stable.
Installation is very easy and stuff just works!
If you are looking for an easy OpenSUSE experience and stability then Gecko is what you need.
Side note; yast2 is a little confusing but thats my fault as I have never used it before.

Used Manjaro for about a year without any issues then both my laptop and desktop crashed due to a update issue on Manjaro....went distro hopping and saw GECKO rolling and decided to give it a spin...so far so good . I love the cinnamon desktop so that was a huge selling point for me and like Manjaro this is a rolling release that was also a huge plus. I've never used Opensuse before so this is a learning curve for me and so far I find it pretty straight forward. I don't know how others feel about ARCH but if your tired of crashes and bad updates and still want a rolling release I believe you have found a great one with Gecko.
PROS: (1) WAS EASY TO SET UP AND CUSTOMIZE....
(2) IS A ROLLING RELEASE
(3) NOT BASED ON ARCH
CONS: (1) DON'T LIKE HAVING TO ENTER A PASSWORD EVERY TIME I TURN MY COMPUTER ON. CAN'T FIND THE SETTING FOR AUTO LOGIN SO I DON'T HAVE TO TYPE THE PASSWORD IN EVERY TIME.

I wanted to get away from upgrading but at the same time have the latest kernel plus have Cinnamon not on top of something else. Pretty much came down to Gecko or Arch and Gecko is less complicated.
Seems much faster than Fedora. I get the same security advantage with Firejail when used with AppArmor as I would with Ubuntu. I really enjoy all the options with YaST, still learning all that has to offer.
Cons? I couldn't get LUKS to configure which may have been user error on my part during install though I've had no issue on Fedora or Ubuntu - those are cookie cutter installers.
Bottom line - highly recommended.

This is the best of one Linux distribution.
Great automatic detection hardware and I have no issue about Gecko Linux.
I am impressive about this. So, my opinion about this distribution is for a review this:
1. Stable
2. Many flavor for Desktop Environment, I am using XFCE
3. Daily use
4. User Friendly, with many flavor of Desktop Environment, it easier for people want to try, leaning and adaptation for Linux
5. I have no problem about software packages or hardware

I am your typical distro hopper and been for the last 10 years.
Here's my take on Gecko.
I have using Gecko for two months now without any issues, rebooted once, didnt seem to make any difference, it still was fast.
It is simple to use and very quick.
Firefox starts and runs faster on Opensuse than other Linux distro's, not sure why but I am not complaining.
There are a lot of good Linux distro's available.
For now, I'm going to stick with Gecko.

Certain programs that I use are not in the 'standard' repository which means that I must install them (and their individual repositories) separately. This generally does not cause conflicts but it does cause some 'head-scratching' when choices must be made during updating. But, all in all, GeckoLinux is by far my favorite of the rolling release type of GNU/Linux operating system.

42.2 GNOME
This is what's needed for an (almost) perfect Linux install. Has a lot of extra drivers for instance Broadcom and printer drivers that so often is making problems. This is one of the best if not THE best one to try Linux without (drivers) issues :)
