I have been driving this distro for just over a week now, and can say it runs on a nvidia system, that is what I have, without issue or errors. I mean none. Every linux install I have done comes with that one little hipcup or special issue, this one has none.
I was not a mint fan, I was trying to get the fastest OS to run games within nvidia graphics. Nobara did well , little things here and there but overall great, which is my runner up. This LastOSlinux just works and works. The real kicker here is, I get better frames than windows or nobara. It is super stable and runs my games in steam and on my nvidia now. I dual boot so I can compare the windows load with the LastOS load, and run black myth on both and Linux wins. Now the load times are longer, but the running game the linux load wins.
Every system is a little different so, what I am saying without question, is it runs very well on my system and I am a gamer, youtube surfer with a little watching movies online. I am happy to find a Linux that does these things well. Windows is now my backup system thanks to LastOSlinux.
I installed the previous version of this OS, quite enjoyable, however like many distro's targeting newcomer's I found it all too much hand holding. Whilst that may meet others needs, it did not meet mine.
I did like how responsive the system was, especially with KDE, which I have always found to be marginal for speed in other distro's I have tried.
I have suggested this OS to a few friends who are keen to migrate and they have been more than happy with it. Some have even committed which is a great outcome.
For me, I will be doing a migration in the near future, I am at the point now where I intend to rip out all the apps that come with the distro I choose and installing to meet my own needs and preferences. After all that is what Open Source is about, freedom of choice.
If memory serves me correctly the lead is an Australian on that OS, good luck to em.
This OS looks thrown together with no care for stability or ease-of-use. I don't recall the name(s) of the program(s) but there were at least 3 different programs to change the same setting... madness! What is the reason for that? Bloat, that’s why. For no reason- just for bloat- that’s idiotic.
For my experience with the OS, it’s bloated and also freezes & crashes frequently. Tons of ram usage sitting at idle- I have 6 GB of ram on my laptop max, and this thing has so far as I’ve seen at the highest, consumed 3 GB of ram at idle with no running programs, that makes no sense- what else could be consuming so many resources and nothing of evidence showing up in the system monitor? Definitely buggy and unstable.
I recently tried out LastOS Linux, and I was pleasantly surprised by how unique it is. The installation process was smooth, and the interface felt intuitive right from the start. What really stood out to me was the modular approach — being able to add or remove software packs so easily is a big plus. I also appreciated how it comes pre-configured with useful tools, saving me a lot of setup time. Performance-wise, it runs fast and stable, even on older hardware. The community around LastOS is small but very helpful and responsive. I liked the custom scripts and automation features; they made managing the system much easier. However, I did find the documentation a bit lacking in some areas. It’s clearly a distro made for power users, so beginners might struggle a bit. Overall, I think LastOS is a solid choice if you want a customizable and efficient Linux experience.
Without a doubt, a distribution that started off on the right foot. I've been using it for over two weeks, and so far, I've received many compliments. Simple, stable, and very lightweight. Everything works; the repository has all the packages that both regular and advanced users need. For gamers, it's also reliable. A distro that's certainly here to stay, winning over many users who appreciate practicality without sacrificing the stability and flexibility that only Linux distributions can offer. More and more users are ditching Windows, and LastOS Linux is yet another distribution that proves this is possible, without the hassle.
been using lastoslinux for a week and so far its worked for everthing i do. Steam downloaded and games worked. all i have done is update apt and did a sudo apt upgrade and have had zero problems graphic driver downloaded for Nvida and my 4k monitors. i had one problem with a new game told me my computer hardware did not meet requrement. just changed the game to Proton and no longer got that message. google works, youtube works, games works. I played Need for speed mostwanted 2005 from a flash drive and did not need to download extra stuff to make it work. I would recumend this OS to some one comming from Windows to Linux.
LastOs Linux is based on Linux Mint, which means it is built on a quality foundation. The system is nicely graphically tuned, everything works, so far I am satisfied with it. It basically has everything that a regular user needs, and what is not in the system can be easily installed. For me, it is a good operating system not only for beginners, but also for advanced users who need a simple but complete operating system for their needs. I can't help but give it 10/10 :-).
A good choice. I can only recommend it.
I know it's a new release and from a new to Linux user, but I use this daily and have installed it on my parents Macbook Pro 2008, they have enjoyed having a OS with the latest chrome able to function again.
Linux Mint may not be the most hardcore OS, but LastOSLinux makes sure to make finding games, apps and the tools home users need, LLStore has made it possible to install Vanilla Mint and use that to customise the OS quickly to only have the tweaks and apps/games I wanted. So even if you don't enjoy the default LastOSLinux experience, there isn't anything stopping you using LLStore on a distro of your choice, it doesn't work with Distro's without a package manager or Atomic releases - so don't try it on Bazzite, Steam or Fedora SilverBlue etc, that said you can use LLStore on them to install most of the available Games (including the WINE ones) as these install to the users folder and are generally portable.
Yes the project is new, but with the recent uptake in interest have given reviews with feedback to improve things, the next public release will be Mint v22.2 based, so plenty of time to get it even easier and streamlined for new users.
As it's based on Linux Mint, there is no need to worry about it not being supported as it is exactly the same as mint with a layer on top - provided by LLStore, so that has it's own support page, else use Ubuntu or Min't forums and social groups to get supported, even the upgrades will work as intended, so you wont be left behind on a distro that can't be updated :)
