Works great with no glitches. Like every system it has its quirks, in this case it's how it handles ntfs drives. I wanted a removable ntfs drive that I could detach and use elsewhere as a backup media storage. Getting ntfs to work was kinda annoying but doable, so no real deterant; for an odd situation.

It is a nice and easy NAS system with hight flexibility. With the debian base it is very stable. You can install other software on the top or use Docker container. It is also available for raspberry and other arm boards.
short statement: I love the OpenMediaVault Syltem

OpenMediaVault is an amazing bit of software. It's great if you want to install on older hardware and just need a simple easy to configure NAS solution. It's fast and more importantly very stable. The plugin feature does a great job of expanding OMV's functionality.I hope more plugins for OMV will be available in the future.

Extremely fast NAS focused distribution with light hardware requirements. Plays well on bare metal or as guest VM. I have it virtualized without any issues.
One of the main NAS distributions that runs GNU/Linux. It is very stable, which makes sense since it's based on Debian. I don't want to invest a lot into hardware and I prefer to use GNU/Linux so OMV is great for that.
Has a nice WebGUI and a lot easier than trying to roll your own NAS. WebGUI still isn't as polished as FreeNAS but it's complete for most tasks. I have yet had to log in via SSH to fix anything and was able to do everything I need from the WebGUI.
The OMV plugin system has fewer items than FreeNAS but there is a third party OMV-EXTRAS repository that fills in some of the gaps and it's growing all the time. The UnionFS and SnapRAID plugins are great for those that want some parity protection with a mix set of disks and don't want to setup a true RAID, similar to unRAID or FlexRAID.
Also, the community forum support is good and very friendly.

Pro's:
Excellent NAS platform for home and small to medium sized businesses. Advanced features are made, "easy to use". Almost everything is done in the Web GUI. Along with standard file server and NAS functions, it has several value added plugin's for media servers, client backup, cloud storage, etc. If existing plugins do not provide the functionality needed, OMV supports "dockers" where a variety of additional applications can be run in semi-isolation.
Con's:
A new WEB CSS theme wastes screen space in the latest build. One can live with it, but it can be annoying. Fortunately, the developer set up an alternative theme that's much more efficient. Unfortunate is that this alternate theme requires manually editing a configuration file.

I used Freenas, Nas4free, Rockstore and some others. But for about 4 years I use Openmediavault and I am very satisfied with it.
I am now testing 3.0.79: first impression: stable

stable, ease of use. Linux instead of BSD as freeNAS but very alike otherwise. makes it possible to use cli at least for me :)
nice plugins. used slickbeard, µtorrent and plex without issues.
recommended.
uses a whole disk for system as default. solved with custom partitioning with livecd after install. would be 10 otherwise.
