Following the appearance of the first release candidate of KDE 3.5 on Friday, the developers of Klax have put together a new demo CD with the latest development version of the popular desktop: "Klax is an i486 GNU/Linux live CD, very similar to SLAX, because it's created with the same linux-live scripts. The version described here contains KDE 3.5 RC 1. It should be good enough to give you an impression of KDE 3.5 development, to verify if bugs still exist or discover new ones, and to make screenshots. What it has: an ISO size of 342 MB; all KDE 3.5 RC 1 modules except kdebindings; Qt 3.3.4 with qt-copy patches, K3b 0.12.7 and KOffice 1.4.2." Visit the project's development page to find out more about the latest Klax CD. Download: klax-kde-3.5-rc1.iso (341MB, MD5).

Following the release of the second beta of KDE 3.5, the developers of Klax have also updated their live CD to include the latest development version of the popular desktop. Besides the updated KDE, the new Klax also includes all KDE modules except 'kdebindings', Qt 3.3.4 with qt-copy patches, K3b 0.12.4a and KOffice 1.4.2. The distribution is based on the latest SLAX and built with the same 'live-cd' scripts as its parent. Klax is a great way to check out the progress of KDE developers, test and report bugs, and learn all about the new features in the upcoming KDE. Find out more information on the project's development page. Download the CD image from here: klax-kde-3.5-beta2.iso (340MB, MD5).

Another interesting live CD with the brand new KDE 3.4.2 (besides Kubuntu) is Klax. With its primary goal to showcase the KDE desktop environment, along with other KDE applications, such as KOffice, Klax is an excellent bootable CD for testing and demonstration purposes. A new version was released yesterday: "Klax KDE 3.4.2 Live-CD: an ISO size of 330 MB; all KDE 3.4.2 modules except kdebindings; Qt 3.3.4 with qt-copy patches, K3b 0.12.2 and KOffice 1.4.1." Unlike Kubuntu, which is based on Debian, Klax is based on Slackware Linux and SLAX. More details are available on the project's home page. Download from here: klax-kde-3.4.2.iso (329MB, MD5).
