A new version of Navyn OS, a Gentoo-based live CD, has been released. From the changelog: "new kernel 2.6.9; SATA disks are now supported; fixed installation problems; all programs are updated; now you can choose framebuffer resolution during boot; added new programs: LFTP (ftp client), xfsprogs (for XFS partitioning), rar; new security programs gkrellmwireless, macchanger, hydra, stunnel, fping, nast; added script for automounting partitions; added support for mouse with scroll wheel." The Gentoo-based Navyn OS project has released a new version of its distribution. New in 2004.08: "new kernel 2.6.8.1; now Xorg instead XFree86;; completely rebuilt from scratch; added porthole, program with GUI for installing programs from portage; now there are 3 installers; you can choose which packages to install from CDROM to hard disk; new drivers for WiFi cards; added two games: abuse and jumpnbump; digital cameras are supported by program gtkam; added hard disk and CPU temperature monitors to GKrellM; added vixie-cron and syslog-ng; added xPDF for reading PDF files; added Flash plugins for Opera and Firefox web browsers...." Let's begin to catch up with Navyn OS 2004.07: "In this version there aren't many changes but one of them is very important. Navyn OS was firstly livecd with an option for installing on hard drive, now it has user friendly installator with GUI, and it could be used as a main operating system in your computer. Now you can have system like gentoo and you don't have to be linux expert." Changes also include kernel 2.6.7, fluxbox 0.9.9, newly added nedit, new graphic design, and support of modem segam. This is the first stable release of Navyn OS, a Gentoo-based Linux live CD with Fluxbox as its default desktop environment, kernel 2.6 and XFree86 4.4.0. From the changelog: "A lot of changes. Added AbiWord, Opera, ADSL support and neostrada, support for ISA soundcards and WIFI cards. Ideal for wardriving, with kismet, airsnort, p0f, amap, vmap, hping, thcrut. New sniffers: ethereal and ettercap. Fixed MPlayer fonts, now launching from menu with GUI by default; new scripts for configuring XFree86, works fine with LCD now; you can install on hard drive without Internet connection, GRUB is on CD...". 3CX Phone System is a specialist, Debian-based Linux distribution designed to run a complete unified communications platform. The 3CX client, included in the distribution, can also be installed separately on most hardware as well as the cloud. It provides a complete open standards-based IP PBX and phone system that works with popular SIP trunks and IP phones. It will automatically configure all supported peripherals and it also comes with clients for Windows, OS X, iOS and Android. The ISO image includes a free license for the 3CX PBX edition. The ISO image contains the standard Debian installer which installs a minimal system with the nginx web server, PostgreSQL database, iptables firewall and Secure Shell. eAR OS was an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution featuring the advanced, yet simple-to-operate eAR Media Centre. The distribution was available in two flavours - either as a freely downloadable "Free" edition, or as a commercial "Enterprise" edition with extra features and performance enhancements.
