| Package search |
Search the DistroWatch database for distributions using a particular package. If you are looking for a distribution with the latest kernel, select "linux" from the drop-down box below and type the version number into the text box next to it. Please note that the best way to obtain the GNOME version is by searching for "nautilus", while KDE Plasma is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package. Apache 2.x is listed as "httpd". As for versioning, if no version number is provided, this page will return any recent versions of the selected package. It is also possible to perform searches for distributions which do not contain a specific package. This returns a list of distributions where the given package is not present on the installation media.
The package version search offers the ability to search for packages which are close
to a specific version, exactly equal to a specific version, greater than or less than
a given version. The second field in the search form allows visitors to switch between
these relations. Most people will probably want to use the like option as it will
search for packages close to a given version. When no version is specified, like
finds packages close to the latest version.
This page can be used to display all distributions which contain a specific package
or version of a package. We also have search pages which display a
side-by-side comparison of all packages
between two distributions. We also provide a package which shows the version of a selected
package in all active distributions.
Have fun and let us know how we can improve the search engine!

| Search by Distribution Criteria (Simple Search Form) |
This section allows you to search for a particular distribution based on certain criteria. Select the criteria from the drop-down and check boxes below and hit the Submit Query button to get a list of known distributions that match your choice.
The following distributions match your criteria (sorted by popularity):
1. Kali Linux (29) Kali Linux (formerly known as BackTrack) is a Debian-based distribution with a collection of security and forensics tools. It features timely security updates, support for the ARM architecture, a choice of four popular desktop environments, and seamless upgrades to newer versions.
2. Parrot (48) Parrot (formerly Parrot Security OS) is a Debian-based, security-oriented distribution featuring a collection of utilities designed for penetration testing, computer forensics, reverse engineering, hacking, privacy, anonymity and cryptography. The product, developed by Frozenbox, comes with MATE as the default desktop environment.
3. Dr.Parted Live (129) Dr.Parted Live is a bootable GNU/Linux distribution based on Debian's "Testing" branch. It is a live image featuring a lightweight Openbox window manager and useful applications for disc partitioning as well as data backup, restore and recovery.
4. HydraPWK GNU/Linux (131) HydraPWK GNU/Linux is a Debian-based distribution designed primarily for penetration testing. It contains a collection of penetration testing tools, including tools for information gathering, scanning, stress testing, exploitation, cracking, reversing engineering and forensics. Formerly known as BlackTrack, the distribution uses a real-time Linux kernel and features the Xfce desktop.
5. Athena OS (175) Athena OS is an Arch-derived Linux distribution designed for penetration testing, bug-bounty hunting and InfoSec students. The distribution provides a way to connect directly to some of the e-learning hacking resources, such as Hack The Box, Offensive Security, PWNX and InfoSec certifications, and it provides integration with the Hack The Box hacking platform and connections to InfoSec communities. Athena OS also introduces InfoSec roles (e.g. penetration tester or open-source intelligence specialist) based on user preferences, so the user's system is populated with relevant tools only.
6. Tsurugi Linux (183) Tsurugi Linux is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution designed to support Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) investigations, malware analysis, and Open Source INTelligence (OSINT) activities. It comes with many popular software tools to conduct an in-depth forensic or incident response investigation, as well as several special features, like device write blocking at kernel level, a dedicated Computer Vision analysis functionality, and an OSINT profile switcher. Tsurugi Linux can be used in live mode but its main goal is to be installed and to serve as the default forensics lab.
7. Predator-OS (249) Predator-OS is a Debian-based Linux distribution designed for penetration testing, ethical hacking, privacy and anonymity. It features customised KDE Plasma, LXQT, MATE and LXDE desktops with tailored menus. Predator-OS has over 1,200 pre-installed tools in 40 categories; these tools have been sourced from both Debian repositories and GitHub pages. Most kernel and user configurations are customised by default to prevent hacking attempts, to restrict non-privileged access, and to reduce the chances of an attack. Additionally, numerous built-in firewalls and defensive tools enable end-users to have full control over the system. Predator-OS also supports various privacy and security tools, and it can be run as a live medium or from a USB drive, as well as in installation mode.
8. BackBox Linux (252) BackBox Linux is an Ubuntu-based distribution developed to perform penetration tests and security assessments. It is designed to be fast and easy to use. It provides a minimal yet complete desktop environment, thanks to its own software repositories, which are always updated to the latest stable versions of the most often used and best-known ethical hacking tools.
9. Pentoo (282) Pentoo is a Gentoo-based Linux live CD with a selection of applications and tools designed to perform penetration testing.
10. CAINE (297) CAINE (Computer Aided INvestigative Environment) is an Ubuntu-based GNU/Linux live distribution created as a project of digital forensics. It offers a complete forensic environment that is organised to integrate existing software tools as software modules and to provide a friendly graphical interface. The main design objectives that CAINE aims to guarantee are: an interoperable environment that supports the digital investigator during the four phases of the digital investigation, a user-friendly graphical interface, and a semi-automated compilation of the final report.
11. Network Security Toolkit (360) Network Security Toolkit (NST) is a bootable live disc based on the Fedora distribution. The toolkit was designed to provide easy access to best-of-breed open source network security applications and should run on most x86 platforms. The main intent of developing this toolkit was to provide the network security administrator with a comprehensive set of open source network security tools. What we find rather fascinating with NST is that we can transform most x86_64 systems into a system designed for network traffic analysis, intrusion detection, network packet generation, wireless network monitoring, a virtual system service server, or a sophisticated network/host scanner.
