Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

There is not much to talk about, it is a unique distro, very light, very fast and very stable despite the rolling system, any user will benefit from the incredible ease of interacting with Openbox, did an excellent job, is a clean system and direct, in my opinion is the best Linux-based system I have ever used, my thanks to the whole team and to everyone who is involved in one way or another!

For those who want to escape the sameness, ArchLabs is the way!

Love it! This is one of the best distros I have used so far, in my 20+ years of using different GNU/Linux varients. My next best is Debian stable.
Archbang gives you the power of doing all that you have done in gnome with a much smaller memory footprint. It is so lightweight and fast, I just love it.
Things i like the most in this distro:
- openbox configuration and the way it (drun, pokit, polybar, trayer, jgmenu, ksuperkey etc.) is put together
- lightweight, easy on memory and CPU
- simple interface yet elegant interface
- default shortcut key settings
- Beautiful shell based installer
- zsh
- ofcourse the power of pacman

Cheers to the team!

Nice ready-to-use openbox alternative and of course, an Arch-based distro.
It's really cool see distros shipping WM's out-of-the-box and with a lot of theming included. Really nice distro!

Pros:
~ Lightweight;
~ Very well polished;
~ Arch-based (as I said before hehe);
~ Good for low specs machines;
~ Post-install script;
~ A lot of themes pre-installed;
~ Possibility to install others WMs like Awesome, Bspwm, i3 and so on.

Cons:
~ Installation process is kind of confusing;
~ It uses a semi-graphical installer - not good for newbies;
~ Auto-partitioning didn't work for me, seems broken;
~ It's of course a lightweight option, however, due to the theming and extra functions that are included in this openbox version, it obvious gets less lightweight than a "raw" openbox - anyway, it's still a good option for those who are looking for a ready-to-use openbox distro.

Neutral:
~ Minimalistic.

Ready-to-use openbox alternatives to Archlabs:
~ ArcoLinux (Arch-based);
~ Antergos Openbox (Arch-based);
~ BunsenLabs (Debian-based);
~ CrunchBang++ (Debian-based and not yet on Distrowatch list).
