Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

I have read the very positive comments by testers here, and decided to install BR OS on an i5 Lenova think centre 8 g ram intel graphics, Sadly no matter what I tried, the installer would not allow any form of partitioning. Auto or manual.

I then downloaded the ISO again tried a different USB and tried to instal on my PC, this runs a i3 9100f cpu with 16 g Kingston ram and an AMD RX550 graphics card, however again the installer crashed and issued an apology pop up and a bug report.

So I cannot recommend Br OS as I simply could not install it to try, I don't give reports on live sessions as I have found over the years, the live session can vary from the final hard drive install, especially on Debian based systems. Perhaps in this case the installer was being asked to do too much. If the team had stayed with the simple Kubuntu installer, the result may have been a more reliable experience.

My main daily driver is Debian bookworm KDE for obvious reasons, however I do like to try any distro that other have found so positive, sadly Br OS will not be a positive experience for my computers.

An incredible system made for demanding people, at least that was the impression I had of Br OS, a well-crafted operating system, designed for convenience.
After I installed it, I didn't even need to make any visual changes, I didn't even change the wallpaper, as the system came ready to use.
I've been changing distributions frequently for years, always jumping from one distribution to another, and I've always needed to make visual changes to the operating systems I installed on my computer. This, in fact, was the first time that I didn't feel any need to change anything in the system.

Unbelievably great OS. Based on Kubuntu, it is better than ubuntu or mint. Linux Mint could not recognize my TPlink 5G wifi adapter whereas Br Os immediately recognized it. My internet speed was better on windows as compared to Ubuntu. Now I am getting same speed on Br OS . Br OS means Brazilian OS but I would call it Breeze OS as the installation went like a breeze.
There was no need to use command line console. The GUI is fresh and modern as compared to Ubuntu which is dull and outdated.
Thanks to the developers for this wonderful OS
