DEKUVE is a Linux distribution based on Debian's "Stable" branch, featuring a customised Xfce desktop. Some of its features include a custom launcher for finding applications, browsing files or running commands, a performance-control applet that provides real-time control over the computer system's energy profile, a custom themes tool with an ability to transform the look and feel of the entire system, and out-of-the box support for Flatpak packages.
To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
Colour scheme:green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

It needs some configuration and troubleshooting, but this OS looks good and performs even better. I have always been a Mint fanboy because it just works and Cinnamon is very good for my workflow, but the way DEKUVE looks outplay Cinnamon in every way; it is simply just beautiful. It is Debian, so it will NEVER break after an update, and it has out of the box flatpak support; I like this because I want my 3-4 favorite softwares always at the last version, while keeping system and other packages with the .deb version.
I am currently using this on my gaming laptop, in dual boot with Linux Mint (which I only use for gaming, now... It may sound strange, but Linux Mint is the best distro for gaming, in my opinion) and I absolutely love it. XFCE4 may have a slow development, but I think it is a very underrated desktop environment.
I use Linux since 2008 and I probably installed more than 100 distros in my life, with different results; The best 5 are Mint, Kubuntu, MX, Ubuntu Studio (it is Kubuntu, I know...) and DEKUVE.
When the version based on next debian stable will be available, I will surely install it on my desktop computer, substituting LMDE6.
Only issues I have found so far is that it can only be installed through Ventoy (not a big problem, but better to resolve it), slow update mirrors (i had to change them, now works perfectly) and issues with nvidia drivers and nouveau (resolved with the help of ChatGPT).
This distro has so much potential and I hope it will grow. It deserves at least the top 10 on this site. But I can't give it the maximum rate, because it has to be a little more polished and become more installation/user friendly; a beginner would have never been able to solve the issues I had.

This is absolutely love at first sight! 😍 DEKUVE has quickly become my favorite system, and for so many good reasons. The design is so modern and incredibly fresh, it's truly a feast for the eyes every time I boot it up. The dynamic color palette that adapts the system theme to your desktop wallpaper is a stroke of genius and adds a unique touch!
But it's not just about looks! DEKUVE is packed with an impressive array of useful features that make everyday tasks a breeze. Everything feels thoughtfully placed and remarkably intuitive – I was up and running in no time. Navigating the system is such a smooth and pleasant experience, especially with the convenient DEKUVE Flathub Store right at your fingertips.
Managing software is also a breeze thanks to the unified package manager for both deb and Flatpak packages. It makes keeping your system up-to-date and installing new applications incredibly simple. And let's not forget the beautiful login screen with the option for live wallpapers – it adds a touch of elegance right from the start!
Honestly, using this distribution is an absolute joy from start to finish. It's fast, it's stable, and the unique features truly enhance the user experience. I sincerely advise anyone looking for a modern, feature-rich, and user-friendly Linux distribution with innovative touches to give DEKUVE a try. Trust me, you definitely won't regret it! It's a breath of fresh air in the Linux world, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
