KaOS is a desktop Linux distribution that features the latest version of the KDE desktop environment, the Calligra office suite, and other popular software applications that use the Qt toolkit. It was inspired by Arch Linux, but the developers build their own packages which are available from in-house repositories. KaOS employs a rolling-release development model and is built exclusively for 64-bit computer systems.

 Misses the mark on many levels.

KaOS somehow takes KDE Plasma and makes it frustrating to use. Stability, performance and drivers also leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm always intrigued by independent, rolling release projects. But they all seem to suffer from the same things

Whilst I applaud the effort, it's just has way too many issues to contend with.

 I see that the reviews are not too positive, and I will agree that the sideways panel is a little wacky... But it's easily dragged back to the bottom if one desires. It's Plasma! The easiest way to experience Plasma 6, which is no small feat.

I find it intriguing, though I'd never use it as a daily driver. Seems to do what it sets out to do. I had issues with the installer in the latest iso - it would refuse to move from the first setup page. Using an older image worked. I'll keep it installed, if only until Plasma 6 becomes mature and more widely available.

Also intriguing? The Czech server is waaay faster than the other mirrors. US internet speeds continue to lag behind international standards...

Impossible to add a new panel, global theme does not respond, the panel always remains on the right, the initial setting (Croeso) is redundant, the same things can be done from the kde control panel. There are at least 100 other distros better than this one. Chaos equals mess, confusion. Comparing it to other distros it consumes more RAM, intense CPU usage. Why create such a distro? Get your own ISO for personal use but don't suggest it to anyone. A new Linux user would be right back where they came from.
