Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view: Major packages only (52) All tracked packages (226)
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

I would have expected more from an Arch release, especially from the popularity that this distro has gained over the years. Manjaro reminds me of my fist experience with Linux, openSuse, where you had to do all the heavy lifting and pray that it would run smoothly for at least 6 months.

Manjaro is a poor mans Ubuntu. After running fine for the first few months, it asked me to update my kernel. I took the conservative approach and went with the next version one step higher. After reboot the logon screen complained about, kernel module not loaded, plymouth error and then abruptly stopped when it reached the CUPS loader.

I rebooted my pc and was presented with a black screen with a flashing cursor. I tried a rescue disk and was able to setup everything the way it was before. I launched file manager so I could get any recent work saved on to a USB drive, and that's when I received a kernel panic.

Manjaro is great for noobs new to Arch but I wouldn't use it for anything but a browser.

Streets ahead of other distros technically, and it's great to be able to find clear answers ie to be able to learn something, however steadily. Updates done via TTY are excellent; I've rarely had an issue (KDE stable), and, when I did, it was easy to temporarily downgrade a package, and things were fixed very fast. It's great that a thread is posted when there are updates released; it details everything, and is there for feedback/solutions. Everything is available to install, either through the repo or in the AUR. So glad I moved to Manjaro; everything works, and you can just get on and enjoy getting things done. Tomorrow it's 2 years since I came over to Linux; Manjaro is the best distro I've used, without a doubt.

Very bad quality control in release and every update.
After update , eventually will get broken and wont boot. If successfully boot , there is some glitch in update system, for example some broken packages, compatibility packages with other apps, and more.

This distro like shoot and pray, not recommended for beginner level that first in linux
