OpenMediaVault is a Network-Attached Storage (NAS) solution based on Debian GNU/Linux. It contains services like SSH, (S)FTP, SMB/CIFS, DAAP media server, rsync, BitTorrent and many more. Thanks to a modular design it can be enhanced via plugins. OpenMediaVault is primarily designed to be used in home environments or small home offices, but is not limited to those scenarios. It is a simple and easy-to-use out-of-the-box solution that will allow everyone to install and administrate a Network-Attached Storage without deeper knowledge.

 It works stably after configuration. Some plugins, like FTP, are quite difficult to configure. It's not fully localized for some languages. Personally, for my use in NAS and FTP, it's the best solution that has worked for me.

 Running OMV on a Raspberry PI 4 8 GB and then upgraded to a RPI 5 with 16 GB RAM after 2 years. Extremely rock solid and easy to use, you can even install plugins to enhance it more (started studying docker by using its plugin). Forum has a nice community. Perfect for a small home network or even a small business. Plug in a couple of 4 TB disks and you will have a very nice and stress free storage system with minimum maintenance. I set a cronjob on my install to reboot the PI every month, just for sanity, but I think its not needed.

Only time it broke it was because of me messing around with packages manually instead of using the web interface.
