Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "kdelibs" and "plasma-desktop" packages and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

A rather coarse and unrefined distro compared to most other active distros. Huge memory overhead. Really not ready for prime time. There are many other much better distros to choose from.

Nice look and feel, fairly quick, but some problems from the get-go.

1) Checkboxes are never visible, you have to guess where they are - that's the first thing, right from the installer program
2) Some of their program implementations are botched. Menus in Libreoffice become unreadable the moment you click on them. Absurdly huge icons in some programs or utilities that distort everything else (Thunderbird was the most egregious - a gargantuan Sherlock Holmes hat and magnifying glass in one of the search boxes, that took up an inch and a half of valuable screen space.
3) No out of the box printer management or HP support (had to download those separately)
4) volume icon in top panel looks like a network icon - easy to miss

If they can get these and some other issues solved, this would be a great distro. But for now it looks like more attention was focused on looks and less on practical functionality.

A beautiful and fun OS. Not my main but I like to boot over to it occasionally for variety. Stable, easy to use.
