Peppermint OS is a Lubuntu-based Linux distribution that aims to be lightning fast and easy on system resources. The distribution's other features include automatic updates, easy step-by-step installation, sleek and user-friendly interface, and increased mobility by integrating directly with cloud-based applications. Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view: Major packages only (52) All tracked packages (226)
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

Great linux os. I just installed on a new Chuwi Lapbook pro that I purchased on Amazon. The laptop came with windows 10 that I have no interest in. I installed Peppermint 10 immediately over the top of windows. Install was quick and easy with no hang ups. Everything worked out of the box including wi-fi and printer. The os is very speedy and stable. Video play back works great. The os is very intuitive with no learning curve.

Pros- Fast and easy install
Os is very fast and stable
Everything just works out of box on new hardware

Cons- Most of the installed desktop wallpapers very dark looking
Initial shut down after new install took 5 minutes. After reboot the shut down worked perfectly and only took 6 seconds and has worked great since.

Peppermint 10 (386) on an old Macbook Pro (early 2008) 32 bit.
I received the above mentioned Mac as a gift last week.
With OSX it was almost unusable.
I read a lot of guides and howto and then I decided what to do:
1. I burnt a dvd with Peppermint 10 and booted the Mac from the dvd in the live
2. I immediately installed macfanctld (in the live)
3. I started with the installation with ONLY Peppermint as OS on the Mac
4. when I received a message that the installation didnt found an EFI support and that if I continue I do it at my own risk, I continued
5. At the end of the installation I added Plank, macfanctld, and some tweak of look and feel
NOW it works in a fantastic way!
No problems at all with drivers, memory usage, speed, wifi, sound, etc.
It is only slow at the boot.
Many thx to the Peppermint staff

I like my computer running fast but also having some package-managing comfort and a minimum peace-of-mind aesthetic. For those reasons I prefer distros having XfCE and, after having tried some of those, I found Peppermint OS the most stable, fast, nice and got straight my hardware drivers. Great Job!.
