Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

What impresses most in this operating system is that it already comes with batteries included for Android development. I would very much like to see this system with included applications for game development, such as Blender, Godot Engine and Open GL 3.0.
Otherwise it is a stable and pleasant OS to use.

For those that claim this is just Ubuntu with a funky theme, I wonder if they actually installed it or ran it for more than 10 minutes after installation.
I've installed it on two of my own systems and two others for Linux newbie friends. I've been using it for 6 months and they have been using it for 2 and 3 months.
It is more than a new pretty face on Ubuntu.
It is much more stable. I've seen none of the glitches or "OOPS, the was an internal error" messages I've seen in Ubuntu 17.10.
It comes with a few accessories and terminal commands that Ubuntu does not. Ones that make remote troubleshooting with the user easier. Which is why I suspect they are there.
Their hardware recognition seems to be better than many distros. It was the only distro a friend, who I support via email 6000 miles away, was able to install and have everything work out of the box on a 2nd Gen Lenovo.
It you don't like Gnome (I don't) put on the Budgie DE. It is in the Pop!Shop and takes only a couple of minutes to install. Probably the easiest alternate DE to install on any distro I've done.
The only reason I've given it a 9 and not a ten is that they need a way to add 3rd party Codecs. Right now if you launch a video it does not have the Codec for, it will ask and you install them. I would like to pre-install them when I set it up a friend.
