RebornOS is a desktop-oriented Linux distribution based on Arch Linux. Although the RebornOS live image provides one desktop only, the installation process offers a choice to install one of the many popular desktop environments and window managers. Other interesting features of the distribution include support for Flatpak packages, optional installation of Anbox for running Android applications, a capability to rollback the system to a previous date, and graphical system configuration and maintenance tools.

 Yes, it's true the previous ISO release was broken and Grub was very much broken.

This current ISO release works well and sorry for those who had the bad experiences with the previous release.

The only 2 issues that I came across was when choosing the offline installation. The Grub loader unfortunately defaults to the Linux-LTS kernel so while everything works you are stuck using Linux-LTS. However, if you're savy enough to reconfigure GRUB to use the newer Linux kernel or a different kernel, you may still be fine.

The 2nd issue was that there is no option to obtain the grub-customizer although the option appears in the RebornOS Welcome Application it is not available or found. It was since moved out of the Arch Extra repository over to the Arch User Repository (AUR).

Other than these two issues I still believe RebornOS is very nice Arch distribution which follows the true Arch experience and offers a nice GUI installer along with a decent selection of Desktop Environments.

The RebornOS community is also very helpful and responsive for those who need some hand-holding or technical assistance.

The installer is completely non-functional.

It cannot work with the MS-DOS partition table.
It cannot set the boot flag for the partition, and therefore cannot boot the finished system.
It cannot install itself in a single Btrfs partition.
It does not install grub2, and modules are missing when target=i386-pc. The grub that is installed is simply broken.
I have never heard of nilfs2.
The default installation often crashes the installer. There are a bunch of similar topics on their forum about my case from 2-3 years ago, and in 2025, nothing still works.


Three installations on two different PCs, grub is broken everywhere.

Constant crashes when manually partitioning the disk.


Complete disappointment. No wonder they told me to only take distros from the top five, everything else is such terrible junk and a waste of nerves that it's not worth any attention.

Don't waste your time, go for the top distros that have zen-kernel or Liquorix. And be happy with your super-fast PC, ready for anything life throws at you.

 I had experimented with Reborn OS before and decided it give it a go again. What a revelation.

Everything worked, online installation a breeze, additional software a breeze and everything was up to date. No waiting for ir to be tested or moved into your repos. Setting up the hardware was done in the installation and has required no further adjustment. I am currently running windows 11, Endeavour, MXLinux 23.5 Senpai and Reborn with no complications. Distro hopping at its best. There have been no hiccups.

Experience since installation has been a great experience.
