From the very first moment, you can notice the care that has been put into the user experience, something that often makes the difference between just another distribution and one that is truly enjoyable to use on a daily basis. One of the aspects I liked the most is the “welcome” tool, as it is very helpful during the first steps after installing the system. These types of tools make the whole process much simpler and more accessible, especially for people who are not used to manually configuring certain parts of the system. Thanks to this welcome panel, installing drivers, essential programs, and performing basic configurations becomes quick and intuitive. Yes No Version: Rating: 9 Date: 2026-01-06 Votes: 6 The version I am reviewing is the Soplos "TYSON 1.0.3 Beta 1" which is the KDE PLASMA 6 version. First of all when you first start up the first thing you recognize are the very intersting color choices Orange Yellow Black and its really nice. The welcome screen to install is very easy 1 click and you get Calamares Installer which is my favorite and the easiest for new Linux users. Once installed you get the Soplos Welcome app. This app is your best friend! this app has everything. From Kernels, Drivers, Tons of Apps andthey all have descriptions of what they are which is nice. GAMERS will love this, #1 its Debian Testing so its kind of a Rolling release with some of the latest drivers. The gamer software section of the Welcome app has Everything a gamer needs. Steam, Wine, Bottles and a whole lot more. This Distribution is something you should try for yourself, i think you will be exptremely impressed. This is some professional stuff!! Good Stuff. It installed with no problems with a typical Calamares installer. But as soon as I updated and rebooted, my WiFi disappeared. Network-manager is installed, and if I go into System Settings/Network my WiFi does show, but I can't log into it. Also not a fan of having to authenticate to use my external drives. If WiFi worked, I'd do my research and figure out how to change it, but the combination of the two issues make it a Soplos a deal-breaker. I'm using an Acer Aspire laptop CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13620H (16) @ 4.90 GHz RAM: 16 GiB GPU: Intel UHD Graphics @ 1.50 GHz [Integrated] This is my first Intel laptop.
