Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

Same problem as others: when installing in a Virtual Box VM, there is no prompt to create a user. There are very few options for the install, but all appeared to go as expected. After the first reboot, only a black screen is shown. After a second reboot, a login prompt appears but, with no username, it is impossible to log in. The idea of automatically creating a user on first reboot seems a good one, but allowing some configuration could prevent this. Tried again after enabling the Processor PAE/NX option and increasing video memory to 128 MB (seen on a YouTube video), but no change.

I love me some Ultramarine! I had been searching for a hassle free Red Hat derivative for some time, and tried Ultramarine a few years ago. It was OK. I didn't have any problems but didn't feel comfortable with the look, feel, and performance. But Version 41 seems to hit the mark! The KDE desktop gives Ultramarine the professional look and feel I've been searching for. The Discover updater is so much better than that Dragora crap Fedora has been peddling for years, I was NEVER able to get it to work right. Ultramarine seems to have harnessed the power and beauty of Red Hat that Fedora used to have a decade ago. I do have one small complaint. The installation process chugged along for 45 minutes. With Debian, Manjaro, and Mint, It usually takes 10 or 15 at the most. My experience is, when an install takes that much time it usually ends with an error or a crash, but I was patient and sat tight. It was well worth the wait.

What is this supposed to be?
I have installed and used Ultramarine version 39 (in Virtual Box). So i decided to install and try the new version within a virtual machine in Virtual Box. During the installation neither the post-installation, it does not offer a prompt to create a username and set a password. However, I encountered a login screen after the installation was complete. So i had to reboot, mount the partition and chroot to set up a new user. I would like to mention any pro but i was not able to run gui.
