ZenLake OS is desktop Linux distribution, based either on Debian's "Stable" branch or Ubuntu's long-term support (LTS) release, featuring a customised GNOME desktop. Its goal is to create a minimal, but user-friendly and familiar desktop layout, with a taskbar at the bottom of the screen. The distribution also includes a built-in system restore functionality that can revert the system to a previous state in case of a boot or system failure.

今回はCPU:celeron1820T / 4GB-RAM / 32GB-SSD という古いThnkcentreにインストールしました。インストールは早く終了して簡単でしたが、ユーザー名の設定に特徴がありました（昔のDebianを思い出します）。
インストール後はアプリはほとんど入っていませんでしたが、softwareインストーラが用意されていて最初からflatpakにも対応していたので親切だと感じました。日常使うにはflatpakのサポートはやはり便利だと思います。インストールイメージは12GBくらいでしたので、まぁまぁ軽いと思います。動作はインストールした古い性能のPCでも軽快に動作しています。10年以上前のPCでも普通に使えるOSだと思います。
アプリはブラウザを追加しました。chrome / MS-edgeをインストールしましたが、安定して動作しています。youtubeの動画もスムーズに再生しています。ディスプレイは1920x1080をDP接続していますがきれいに映っています。
我々日本人にとって大切な日本語入力に関しては、インストールするとibus-mozcが用意されていたようなのですが、私は気づかずにfcitx5を入れてしまい動作が不安定になったようです。fcitx5をアンインストールしてsynapticからibus-mozcを再インストールして「言語」設定とkeyboad設定からibus-mozcを設定したら日本語が使えるようになりました。なぜインストール後にibus-mozcが起動していなかったのかやメニューに表示されていなかったのかは理由がわかりませんでした。インストールにトラブルはありましたが設定が完了したあとは安定して日本語環境で動作しています。
ただし、インストーラがまだ日本語に対応していないようで、日本語が文字化け（tofu）していたので、AmericanEnglishでインストールしてから「ロケールと言語」から日本語に設定しました。フォントはその時に追加されていました。インストーラの日本語対応とフォントが用意されていれば、日本語のユーザーももっと使いやすくなると感じました。
このディストリビューションは、wayland + GNOME50 + Linux7 という最新の組み合わせを体験できる素晴らしいコンセプトだと思います。日本語も設定完了後は安定して動作しており、トラブルは起きていません。わざわざ新しい高価なPCを用意しなくても、安価に入手できるリユースPCでも日常的に使える、とてもよいディストリビューションだと思いました。
インストールなど細かいトラブルがあったので８点としました。
